Paramount DVDs are some of the most over-priced out there. Sure it's got a nice box and some nice extras, but it's also twice as much as shows with as many episodes and only a little less extras. The only thing I can think of that is comparable would be anime, and I think that is higher priced because of the cost associated with import and everything.

I might only buy it if it's cheaper than getting everything seperately, and I can pull enough cash in one shot. But other than that, who is really going to buy it.

I wouldn't go for the MegaCube, mainly because I wouldn't buy every season. I'll probably ask for Season 3 as a Christmas present, and maybe seasons 4 and 2 if I'm feeling particularly Trekkish later on.

As it is I think I'd be more interested in getting my hands on the first season of Seaquest.

Well I can finaly get the TNG DVDs for cheaper. I wanted the complete series and the cost that Paramount was charging per season was absurd. This drops the price significantly.

Jesus, 500 Pounds is a lot for a set like that. 500 US Dollars, maybe, but pounds? That's like 750 bucks, isn't it?

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Shit, that was in pounds.

Fuck, I hate Paramount and their insane prices for the Trek seasons.

Actually, it's easy to flame Paramount but the real problem is the legions of Trekkies who are willing to pay these ridiculously overinflated prices. As long as they're willing to pay, Paramount would be foolish not to jack the price.

I wouldn't worry so much for two reasons:

1) DVD's are almost always cheaper here than in the UK. I've heard that this set will run for < $600 when it comes out.

2) Figure that you can shave at least $100 off by shopping around and checking out ebay.

That means $500 for several hundred episodes of Trek. Not a bad deal if you ask me; certainly not the extortionist rates of anime.

Except, I don't think it is just Star Trek that has the high prices. It seems to affect a lot of their releases.

According to The Digital Bits, Paramount has no plans to release the set in Region 1, making it an R2 only release.

They're too cheap to include a box. It's one of those little pocket-pack things.

Maybe they'll be included with the Voyager sets when they start releasing them in February. :)

449 pounds for the set comes out to 750 dollars and change American... or 107 dollars a season. That's insane.
