Tale of Two Rikers.
Just saw the ep of TNG called "Second Chances" in which they stumble across a clone of Will Riker on a planet. The clone had accidentally been created and left behind in a transporter glitch 8 years earlier. He was an exact duplicate, memories and all of Riker from 8 years earlier and had been stuck on the planet alone up untill the Enterprise came.
I figured from the very beginning that it was going to be one of those kind of episodes where the interesting new guy gets killed or sacrificed near the end of the episode but surprisingly in the end both Rikers are still around. The clone of Riker decides to take a posting on some other starship at the end of the episode.
My question is, do we ever see or hear of this second Riker again before the end of TNG?

Interesting. By "Cardassian justice" I assume he gets killed correct?. I also assume this is sometime in DS9. Do you know which season or episode it is?Crazedwraith wrote:He jions the marquis
then impersonates the real riker and steals the defiant. But eventually gives himself up to cardassian justice to save his crew

Indeed. Considering the popularity of that episode, I'm surprised that they never closed that particular plot thread. After all Kira mentioned at the end:Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:All of this suggests that "Mini-Riker" could be plausibly used in fanfics, as it could be explained that he survived the poop-storm on Cardassia Prime from "What We Leave Behind" and escaped the planet.

It was followed up in the horrible "Dominion Wars" game. The Kernel wrote:Indeed. Considering the popularity of that episode, I'm surprised that they never closed that particular plot thread. There was also a follow up in the ST novel "Triangle: Imzadi II", which wasn't so bad (the ending was kind of a cop-out, though I suspect a lot of that had to do with the fact that Riker's and Troi's relationship was officially in limbo at the time.Sharp-kun wrote:It was followed up in the horrible "Dominion Wars" game. The Kernel wrote: Indeed. Right. If there were any ST novelist whose stuff should be granted canon status, it's Peter David. Not necessarily because his work should influence what appears on screen as much as what hasn't appeared on screen shouldn't straitjacket his work. The guy knows Trek, likes Trek and -- beyond that -- is one hell of a good storyteller.

Going by what I remember (I didn't play that much, as it was a shit game), there's a misison where you have a joint Federation/Klingon force, and you have to rescue him from a Cardassian prision convoy. No real follow up afterwards.Crazedwraith wrote:Really? how?Sharp-kun wrote:It was followed up in the horrible "Dominion Wars" game. The Kernel wrote: Indeed.
