No one ever said they had good business sense.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Wait. The last time they talked about politics, they got a nationwide boycott so bad they has to pose nude for a magazine, and now they dare make fun of Arnold?
You know what that means....they'll be making porn videos soon.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Wait. The last time they talked about politics, they got a nationwide boycott so bad they has to pose nude for a magazine, and now they dare make fun of Arnold?
Who would want to watch Dixie Chicks porn.Tsyroc wrote:You know what that means....they'll be making porn videos soon.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Wait. Whether it's to make up for dogging on Arnold or because it's the only career they have left open to them.
Otter,I'd rather be governed by by a foreigner like Arnold who came to this country became successful and loves to be here for all its faults, than a stupid blonde cunt who grew up here, becomes successful and than badmouths every fault like its the end of the world
all in favor of having their name changed to "Dixie Fucks"

What exactly have they done? Oh yeah, they made a couple of negative comments about public figures in the last year. Somebody please explain to me why this is a big deal.
Interesting. Why do you blame them for this, and not the media, which eagerly follows celebrities around and laps up their droppings for public consumption, or the public itself, which is obsessed with celebrities?seanrobertson wrote:I don't bash them because I really give a shit what they in particular say, and especially not because they're against the U.S. conservative grain. I bash them because they're one of so many: like other angst-filled, uneducated celebrities, they use name recognition, little else, to preach at us.
A valid question:Darth Wong wrote: Interesting. Why do you blame them for this, and not the media, which eagerly follows celebrities around and laps up their droppings for public consumption, or the public itself, which is obsessed with celebrities?
It matters less to me than the time I've spent talking about it would indicate. It's just a pet peeve of mine. Having known some children, like the girls next door, who are very much hero-worshippers and would put stock in this sort of thing, I have a rather bad reaction to seeing it in print.Case in point: I would have no idea whatsoever that the Dixie Chicks had said this if somebody had not come running to the board to post it because it's such big news. Nor would I care.

Oh, come on. That's a blatant Straw Man.Sriad wrote:

Alright, the porn joke has run its course...![]()
It is a sad thing. I weep, WEEP I say, for the generations of children whose role-models will be forbiden to have opinions, lest they be forced into pornography by rioting legions of betrayed fans.
I hope you're pulling my leg. You're calling my logic stupid, and yet you construct another Straw Man.But seriously: what (stupid) logic are you following here? "If someone is popular, then they have an obligation to speak in places where the public might hear them of nothing except what made them popular, or items of trivial consequence."?
If you want it to have the desired impact, eh...you're off to a good enough start I guess *shrugs*. I would separate "assholes" from the rest of what you said. Standing alone it might pack more of a punch, a'la the old rag header: BUY THIS MAGAZINE OR THE DOG DIES!I mean, it's fine to stop buying their music, but every time the Dixie Chicks say something political, Republicans start burning them in effigy.
Way to diagree with with what I say, but defend to the death my right to say it. Assholes.

Apparently you have some reading comprehension problems, because it was not Natalie that said anything this time but Emily Robinson. Emily is the Banjo player of the group, the tall, thin, brunette who is married to country singer Charlie Robinson.theski wrote:http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_81 ... theadlines

That's fair, I think. I don't have a water cooler around which to bolster Arnold's rep (even if I could), unless one included the BBS as a virtual water coolerDeath from the Sea wrote: I must say that I agree with DW on this about who cares what they (The Dixie Chicks) think or say? They were probably asked by the German paper what they thought of Arnold and she told the fucking truth, if you disagree with their opinion (as I do) then support Arnold around the water cooler. If you agree with them then waht are you complaining about? that your voice isn't as well heard around the world?
Right. Criticism from that background might've been somewhat of a surprise to many country music fans--the same lot that booed ex-Pres. Clinton at a NASCAR race near my city in October of '92.I think most people get upset at the Dixie Chicks for their comments because they are fairly liberal in a conservative business (Country Music), and that pisses people off.
