Fairly self-explanatory I daresay.

I am torn between three.

The Wrath of Khan was just spectacular and that is some of James Horners best work ever. The opening credits with the modified Treke theme is incredible. Surprise attack really sets the mood fir Khan and his ambush. Battle in the Mutara Nebula is also very well done with its highs and lows. Genesis Countdown also gets a mention. And of course the Drydock one is good.

Next is Generations. The movie wasn't the best, but the music was damned good. It has almost nothing to do with ANY of the other trek. Sure Horner managed to put the Trek theme into elements of TWOK, but Dennis McCarthy pulled off something else entirely with Generations. At certain points the saving grace of the film was the music element helping along the scene itself. The main theme, Kirk Saves the Enterprise, Crash Landing, and Lursa Betor Ambush are all well done songs.

Last is Undiscovered Country. Like Generations, this theme has almost nothing to do with the series. Unlike the other music out there, this music has a very dark element to it. It fits a mystery type thriller that UC portrays. The music fits the mood perfectly and has a very conspiritory element to it at certain points. Cliff Eidelman did a damned good job.

Jerry Goldsmith gets an honorable mention. He created the "modern" Trek theme for The Motion Picture and updated it with Final Frontier. He has done the music for a total of five Trek movies (1, 5, 7, 8, 9, & 10) and each set fit fairly well. While not specatacular you can listen to it time and time again.
"If the facts are on your side, pound on the facts. If the law is on your side, pound on the law. If neither is on your side, pound on the table."

"The captain claimed our people violated a 4,000 year old treaty forbidding us to develop hyperspace technology. Extermination of our planet was the consequence. The subject did not survive interrogation."

TMP for the Klingon Battle, V'Ger flyover, The Cloud, and Spock's spacewalk.

TWoK rates equally high, in my book.

Voyage Home comes in last of the ones I remember. Too bright and happy.
