New idea for a Star Trek Spin off

Post by Lord Pounder »

I've had an idea. I may not be the only one whos had this. I think a cool series for Trek would be this.

100 Years after the return of Voyager to earth. The Federation has collapsed. Communism finally killed it. Starfleet is in tatters. The Captains set out in competition to one another as transports and escorts for the new lose economy, administrated by the Ferengi. General peace reigns through the main remaining superpowers. The Klingons, the Romulans, The Cardies, and newly emerging as powerful, The Bjorans. One former Starfleet crew want to restore the UFP. But a UFP without the flaws of communism and blind idealism.

What you think?

Remember Kids the Red Menace is everywhere, if you spot people not displaying appropriate greed report them to your designated freedom defence officer.

What is the problem with the feds socialist nature? For whatever reason it seems to work for them more than current economic / political structures work for a lot of the world today.

If one third of all Americans are Communist Spies then what happens if our population is not divisable by 3?

Andromeda was actually taken from one of GR's future Trek ideas.

Isn't it funny how so many of Roddenberry's ideas get badly executed by others?

Hopefully, VOY and ENT weren't two of them.

No, VOY was somebody else's good idea that got bungled, and ENT was the best idea Paramount would let B&B have (for once, I agree with them--they did NOT want to do a prequel series, but the studio said no to their first two or three ideas).

OK then bollocks to the idea of reforming the Federation. How about just following the fortunes of one of the former federation ships? BTW i've never saw Andromeda in my life, was it that much of a rip off.

TO address another point made here. Socialist movements always colapse. Human greed will always destroy it. Look at the UK. Ever since the socialist goverment came to power we've been losing a fortune. Socialists are a nice idea. They make good opposition for a goverment. Keep right wing goverments in check. But ultimately most socialists are politicaly and financialy nieve.

Yes the UK under its socialist regime is in ruins, I can only hope the Tories will save us from our impending financial collapse.

The Feds have got Socialism to work great, it may not be realistic but the level of resentment that floats around just because socialism led to a Utopian future in trek is absurd (although unsurprising).

I think it would be interesting to see a startrek story about the fall of the federation, only to see it from a civilian point of view without the fancy space bullshit. i'd like to see a real people story set in the trek universe but not about the federation.

Its not a ripoff at all, for two reasons: One, its an entirely different everything. Two, its a Roddenberry idea, he cant rip himself off.
