Voyager's future tech
Now that Voyager is home what will starfleet do with all the superior tech from 20+ years in the future?
Just throw it away due to Temporal Prime Directive?

This is for the PST forum. No, they would probably adapt it to be used on more ships and would reverse engineer it all.

First: This should be in PST.Enola Straight wrote:Now that Voyager is home what will starfleet do with all the superior tech from 20+ years in the future?

Second: I'm not sure, but the tech itself was interesting, and IMO worth seeing fuiture usage.

Sadly, despite the E-E being completely refit since then, it showed no signs of this tech.

Yeah, that kind of annoyed me about Nemesis.SirNitram wrote:Sadly, despite the E-E being completely refit since then, it showed no signs of this tech.
The technobabble torpedoes weren't that impressive, IMO, but the armour was (I have a love of SF ships that have heavy armour).

The thing that astounded me is this armour was apparently actual heavy armor(It held off Borg fire), yet it disabled their shields. It explains why Starfleet ditched armour: They can't project shields through it.Micheal Ryans, Beta pilot wrote:Yeah, that kind of annoyed me about Nemesis.SirNitram wrote:Sadly, despite the E-E being completely refit since then, it showed no signs of this tech.

Well considering Temporal Investigations showed up when Sisko mucked around with the K7 incident, I reckon they'd probably seize all future tech ASAP, but then I also reckon they'd bust Janeway's ass for numerous violations of both prime directives, so I've been proved wrong by Nemesis. Never mind...

Wasn't the tech that Janeway brought back from the future specialized for fighting the Borg? We haven't seen any fights with the Borg since Endgame (chronologically, at least. There was that one ENT ep that turned out much better than it deserved to be) so it makes sense that we haven't see a re-appearance of the Borg-fighting tech.

What I'm curious about is: how does Temporal Investigations know when the timeline's been fucked with, since they'd be affected right along with everything else?The_Lumberjack wrote:Well considering Temporal Investigations showed up when Sisko mucked around with the K7 incident, I reckon they'd probably seize all future tech ASAP, but then I also reckon they'd bust Janeway's ass for numerous violations of both prime directives, so I've been proved wrong by Nemesis. For example, if Sisko left traces of information that a 24th century ship and crew had been involved in the K7 incident, from TI's point of view it would always have been that way, and there'd be nothing for them to get all upset about.
I'd also like to know how they narrowed their investigation down to Sisko and his crew, since he didn't exactly strut right up to Kirk and say, "Hi, I'm Captain Benjamin Lafayette Sisko of the U.S.S. Defiant, Registry Number NCC-74205 -- please remember to write that down -- and I've come back from the 24th Century to fondle your yeomen. Did you get all that, Jimmy?"

[Trekkie]Oh but they aren't effected by changes in the timeline so they can perfectly avoid paradoxs and kill their enemies before they begin despite this being completely out of character!!!!11111[/Trekkie]Raoul Duke, Jr. wrote:What I'm curious about is: how does Temporal Investigations know when the timeline's been fucked with, since they'd be affected right along with everything else?The_Lumberjack wrote:Well considering Temporal Investigations showed up when Sisko mucked around with the K7 incident, I reckon they'd probably seize all future tech ASAP, but then I also reckon they'd bust Janeway's ass for numerous violations of both prime directives, so I've been proved wrong by Nemesis. Sometimes they are immune to the timeline changes, but never always(Future's End). They seem to scan history for unusual signatures; they picked up Voyager departing Earth in the 20th by her powercore, IIRC.

Captain Braxton mentioned in that episode that their sensors can scan time the way normal sensors scan space. That may mean they can see things happening in the past or the future and therefore keep an eye out for any possible anamoly that is not consistent with that particular period of time (example warp emissions in Earth orbit in 20th century).SirNitram wrote: [Trekkie]Oh but they aren't effected by changes in the timeline so they can perfectly avoid paradoxs and kill their enemies before they begin despite this being completely out of character!!!!11111[/Trekkie]
