I thought this could be a good question to bring up, and to also see how many people we have who are into 3d art.

I'm a beginner, currently using Lightwave 7.0. Trying to get to learn Maya 5 as well.

I've fiddled with 3D StudioMAX and Lightwave. Back in high school I was a little proficient with Stratavision3D.

I've been a few months on 3DS and trueSpace... I've got a few works-in-progress, but then again, I'm trying to apply to the "I'll finish it someday!" - Club.

I've been kicking the arse out of Lightwave for about 3 years on and off, I still find it the easiest interface to use.

SMBEM (Starship-Modeling-By-Email). Basically Kenny and I've been talking back and forth over email. I describe, he models with Lightwave.

If I ever get off my ass to start modeling, it'll probly be with a freeware/GNU GPL proggy...

If you count making glorified spheres for Freelanceer mods modeling, I use gMax, which is basically a stripped, game-specific version of 3ds Max. It's quite familier in the FPS communities, I understand.
