Bajor

Post by Jadeite »

http://www.stdimension.de/Cartography/S ... p_bsys.gifCould a star system actually have that many planets? I counted 14 planets in orbit around Bajor's star. Im using a link to it instead of posting the picture, because the size of it would make the mods...unhappy.

It's out of scale, so it's impossible to tell which are planets or moons.

With the vertical lines linking to the orbits, they seem to all orbit the star.

I don't see why a star system couldn't have that many. A few of them seem very small anyway.

I see no reason why not. Needless to say, they would not all be habitable.

I think many of them are just moons, it is a standard sized system, I
don't recall hearing a huge humber of planets were in that system.

They are all connected to orbits that revolve around the star, not around another object.

And yet again, for some reason there are random numbers all over the image...

After checking the map again, you are right. Still, Even in non cannon
sources, I don't recall hearing the Bajor sysytem was that large.
Interesting.

All those planets but just ONE comet? I guess that's where all the other comets went...

IIRC the Bjoran system is a very old system. I remember it being stated several times that the Bjorans had an empire when the Terran's where making hand prints on caves. Also they had one of the Alpha Qyadrents fastest non-warp ships. Maybe the systems age is the reason for the lack of comets.

You're talking about a time scale of mere millennia, which is roughly around an eyeblink in astronomical terms.

They never really had an empire they just had advanced tech but never really did anything with it, prehaps instead of going about building a galatic empire they spent their time playing an odd sport that involved throwing comets into the sun.

Their tech was never that advanced. They were able to travel from their system to Cardassia three-thousand years ago and how much did their tech develop since then?

Not much, if the Cardies could walk in and were superior to them in almost every aspect.

My suspicion is, that the reason for this is within their religion and the caste-system of Bajor, that prevented them from being a dynamic and progressive society.
The optimist thinks, that we live in the best of all possible worlds and the pessimist is afraid, that this is true.

They did have an Empire of several systems It was stated in the TNG episode that introduced us to the Marjor Kira template, Ro Laren. I can't remember the name of the episode but it was a 2 parter IIRC.
