Which TNG character should have died?

Post by Slowhand »

Aside from Lieutenant Yar, who deserved to be removed, and omitting Wesley, who god knows needed to be hung from the warp core by his own entrails, who do you think should have been killed of the remaining senior staff?

For me, it's gotta be that banana-clip wearing whiner, Geordi LaForge. If for no other reason then the time he interupted Data's gift of laughter from Q. There are many instances of him raining on Data's parades.

Even when the show was still running, and I was not half the cynic that I am today, I was always wishing for LaForge to buy the farm when danger presented itself.

And let's not forget that he's a freaking psycho!!! When he met the real Leah Brahms and spoke and acted as if she would have any recollection that he fell in love with a holograpgic representation of her years prior, she should have killed him herself and saved me the many grimaces of having to endure any further Levar Burton character development.

What say you?

For me it has to be Riker.
God i hated what he did in generations he had a Galaxy class starship and damaged or not it could destroy a TOS era BOP, instead we 1 Phaser shot and a techobabble solution with a torpedo, Worf should have snaped his neck and blow the BOP into atoms.

LMAO

My opinion is that Riker wussboy is the worse but there are a lot of other characters that deserve to die.
The ones that i think are better are Picard, Worf and Data, all the others can die for all i care.

Geordi for being a complete asswipe towards Scotty. He was rude to Scotty and talked to him like he was some retard for most of the episode, I'm surprised Mr. Scott didn't beat the living hell out of Geordi and arrange a transporter "accident" for him. And of course the Leah Brahms thing that Slowhand mentioned, Geordi's a complete stalker creep and shoulda been kicked in the nuts good and beaten to death.

Geordi just needs to work on his social skills a wee bit.

Yeah but that stuff with disrespecting Mr. Scott--while being a decent story device--might have offended some TOS enthusiasts. Just like Picard burying Kirk.....

Why'd so many people vote for ReKirk?

I Agree his behavior does not fit with how any real Engineer would have acted if (for a proper analogy) Thomas Edisen walked into his lab. The Entire lab team would dote all over him, and he wouild get a full tour of the place! Jeordi treated his taking Scotty around like it was a chore! After all since he was the Cheif Engineer Picard gave giving Scotty a tour and welcome to the ship to him. His behavior was totally out of line even if he was busy. He wouldn't even give the poor guy the time of day!

I voted Riker because the ideot is totally incompatant there are more examples than just Generations.

He was in command of the ship in the Episode "Rascals" and it he that allowed the ship to be taken over by 6 Ferengi! And that's just a start!

Do not forget that those Ferengi brought down the Enterprise-D's shields with just one Bird of Prey. Hard to believe that a BoP can disable and succesfuly board a Galaxy class starship.

And in "Insurrection" he survived just because he got lucky that the Sona were as incompetentant as he is.

Riker. They could have done without him, as this thread clearly shows.
The episodes about him were the most boring of the TNG shows. Even
his guest appearance on Voyager was dull.

Actualy when Q brought Riker on Voyger it was quite amusing. I realy liked it. The episode revealed that a Q actualy saved one of Rikers ancestors.

It's not so much Riker's incompetence as his utter unimportance and forgettability in the cast of characters. He comes off as Al Gore trying to be Kirk.

Al Gore would fit in pretty well as a robot Kirk fights. Riker deserved to die, and if he died in action it would easily become battle-winning turn of the tide in the Federations favor.

Troi, she never once did what she should have done... gone to the Holodeck and break out a few Holopornos.

I voted for Dr. Crusher. It's not that I didn't like her. In fact I think she was a better character than some of the others but with the way they used her (or didn't) she might has well been killed off.

We all know how much she was wasted in the movies so the ship's doctor would be better off as a recurring character like Nurse Ogawa, Barclay, O'Brien (when on TNG) etc... instead of trying to make her one of the "main" characters.

I agree. What is a Counseler doing on a battleship ? Are the crew a bunch of emotionaly distressed children in need of therapy ? Troi should have instead been used as an elite Section 31 special forces unit assigned to the Enterprise where she uses her psi powers to help Picard.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Are you kidding? Get rid of the nicest set of tits on the entire show? You're mad.

I'd say Riker. His entire character was wasted thanks to that idiotic "no conflict" rule. He COULD have been at odds with Picard the entire series (and, wonder of wonders, sometimes Picard would be wrong, another idea that never seemed to occur to the writers), the crackerjack young hotshot versus the cautious old master, but instead he was...well, not much of anything.

She's basically filling the position of ship's chaplain in an organization that doesn't really go for religion. If it weren't for her empathic abilities I would hope they would have kept her off of the bridge though.

It says alot for the state of the Federation that they seem to think that they NEED a psychologist on the bridge of a Starship. Note in TOS McCoy was not always on the bridge and he didn;t have his own station on the bridge. Now the ship's doctor does have the authority to remove officers from duty, but he/she had better have real good grounds for doing so. And yes when the State religion is atheism then a person like Troi would replace the ship's chaplin just look at Soviet Vessels, they all have a political officer. It is still not normal for him to be in the chain of command except in the case of the missile key.
