Alryium, you're sheilds couldn't possible have held. They were impacted with thousands of seventy ton missles moving a .9c; if nothing else the ground around them would be molten and the sheild destroyed that way.
Not to mention you wouldn't be able to open a jump point inside an impeller wedge. The massive gravitational force would prevent that.

Even hundreds of thousands of mines, with kill radii in the thousands of kilometers, would not have enough coverage to guard a system, and with vessels launching attacks against planets from across the system, ships don't even need to enter the minefields to cause total devastation.
My vessels came in over the ecliptic, out side the system, and bombarded in.
