I need to get an alienware... and I've seen the bathroom scene before, simply incredible. Is that scene from this demo? If so which map?
Yeah it is from the demo, it's e3map3 or whatever the level designations are.

There are 3 levels, and you can only get between them via the console.

Hm.. the only problem I'm still having is my controlls keep on acting weird. I can't get them to work right. I do know how to change them though, it's just some strange problem.

Shinova, did you install the patch?

Could be why. Looks like I'll have to install edonkey again.

John Carmack said he could release it now, if people didn't mind having 60 fps on the best computers, so all the time it's being delayed will be for us and our framerates...

So whern's it coming out? Last time i checked play.com it was scheduled for august or something..

Alright, I aquired and installed the demo, but winrar said two of the files were corrupt and could not be extracted. i think they were just wav files. Then I followed the instructions on some webpage and commented out the last line in runact.cfg. Finally I ran the exe. Grey window, and mouse cursor disappears. I hit ~. My cursor reappears, nothing more. I aquire something purporting to be a patch. All I can see that it does is increase the gamma to insane levels which may or may not deactivate when I close the program. I tried hitting the ~ and then typing in exec runact.cfg and hitting enter without having anything to type into, like whatever this console is supposed to be. It took up a lot of processor time for a few minutes, then went back to doing nothing. So... did I get the wrong patch? Or what?

If you're thinking console, then if you have an XBox it should be okay, since I hear it's coming out for XBox also.

It sounds like you may be having the same problem as Shinova, or atleast similer. My friend was telling me that when he did it, he had an error too when extracting... Making it so he couldn't play the game. If you really wanted to, you could try and do it all again. (download and install all over) But this time make sure that when you are extracting it, that no other programs are running, that's been known to mess stuff up. Don't ask me why though, I don't know. I'm just going by what my friend told me. :?

I do not and will not own an XBox. I would like to think that maybe, just maybe they're smart enough to do a mass production on all three consoles and PC.

I'm not sure if they will. It's quite a bit of work to port the game over to differing architectures.

Neither the PS2 nor the GameCube has the horsepower to run Doom 3. Hell, Carmack may have to tone down a few settings to get it running on the X-Box. That's a GeForce 3 and a Pentium III in there, after all. Even at 640x480, I can't imagine Doom 3 running skip-free with full graphic detail enabled.

They can do bump mapping can't they? At least the ps2 can (i think). Perhaps IF they were to pusue the cross-format route (personally i dont think so, but IF) couldnt they just make a much crapper version with bump mapping still in? That's what people'll be noticing in doom 3 anyway, the high-polygon everything could be turned down and people would still be impressed.

The GC has, what, a 485Mhz PPC750 in it plus that wierd ArtX (now ATI) video card? You might be able to strip off some graphics to do it.

P2 and X-box are almost identical. GC has a better vid card, I think... I just remember one part was better than the P2 and X-box. If they can put it on that piece of shit x-box, they can put it on the P2 or GC.

PS2 is a MIPS-based design (a very strange varient of MIPS with 128-bit SMID capabilities, but one nevertheless). GC is a PowerPC-based design (G3 varient). XBox is an x86-based design (modified Pentium III). They have virtually nothing in common.

The reason they can put it on X-Box is because it is so closely related to computers - hell, the kernel itself is a modified version of Windows 2000. Plus, it's hardware is more powerful than either the PS2 or the GameCube.
