<RANT>I am sick and fucking tired of my ENTIRE FUCKING SYSTEM slowing down to a crawl just because some asshole's Flash-Ad-Of-Much-Uber-Suckiness starts Hoovering all my CPU and GPU cycles! I WANT THESE DAMN SHITSTAINS BLOCKED!!!!11 I leave Mozilla running while I play Quake/Wolfenstein/Other Games so it won't mark all of SDnet read (it does that when I close and reopen the browser), and the LAST thing I want is a Flash ad sucking up my resources and making my framerate look like a bowl of chipped beef right when I got that bozo who just filched my Flag right where I want him! YYYAAAAUUUGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!</RANT>

So all I want is a Flash ad blocker that works. Editing my /chrome/UserContent.CSS file doesn't work, so I need an alternative. Please, think of the Flag Defenders!

I know that my Dad has a program that works pretty well on his computer. But he currently is asleep and I don't know what it's called.

Has anyone even bothered buying one? Perhaps there should be an investigation of them or something.

And, flash ads are pretty annoying, but I'd give the edge to pop-up ads, because they appear when you least expect it, and you have to take the time to close them. And they've evolved since they started. Now, you have pop-up ads you have to clikc twice to close, pop-pus you have to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to close, pop-ups with sound, pop-ups that take up the entire screen, and so on.

I once visited a website, and it was after listening to some music (my speakers were turned up pretty loud). Of course it's ad-filled, but not with normal ads, no. They couldn't do that. Instead, I get a flash ad from the US Army, and some asshole at a banner on top that talks for like 40 seconds, and the little button to turn him off JUST TAKES YOU TO THE WEBSITE! Fuck fuck fuck....

And anyone get those ads that are just little script things to pop up MORE ads, and when you try to click on them, they just give you a blank error and resume popping up ads? Those PISS ME OFF DAMNIT! You have to go through all the trouble of Ctrl+Alt+Delete and all that (which isn't much, just more than you should have to do)

BTW, I said this on my last post, but this time it should really be true:

It's down at the moment, but it works well. It replaces flash embeds with a button - click it if you want to see it, otherwise leave it be.

You could probably try a Flash-to-link filter for Proxomitron (I recall you have that), but of course, that'll nuke any site that legitimately uses Flash. The one that's included with the program is named "Flash animation killer." If concerned about breaking compatibility with other things, just disable the other filters.

ah, I don't have Proxomitron anymore. I used it for popup blocking, but now I use Moailla for that now.
