Pan-Slavic Territory

Basically draw a line down the "Iron Curtain." From about the modern day border of Poland and Germany (and a line south to Trieste on the Adriatic) through Siberia, plus all the Balkans north of Roman holdings. If you could make the Central Asian republics a lighter shade of the color you assign to me, to mark their "protectorate" status, that would be good.

Well, they sort of fill all combat roles... That and I dont know much about rl ship classifications :D

Each indiividual ship mounts the full spectrum of weapon categories. With a heavy emphasis on weapons that are roughly the galactic standard. They have a limited number of heavy weapons, making small groups of them suitable for taking out much larger more heavily armed ships, and work in teams for that purpose. They also mount a huge number of rapid firing, highly accurate poind defense weapons and carries a portion of a full fighter screen.

They have more of a Jack of all trades, Master of none design, though any weaknesses they have against larger ships...is made up for by the group. (they never fight in groups of less than 10)

In case a Sol map is created, I'll say the holdings of Soirehtyiaz now. The vast majority of the asteroid belt is held by us, although Floaters control a significant amount of it. There are many resource satellites and transportation centers orbiting around Earth itself. A large number of resource collection centers orbit all of the gas giants, and there are mining operations on several of their moons.

that's pretty much true. We hold the two Comet belts, with a large Cluster in the Oort cloud, and have numerous small clusters throughout the asteroid belt with a few in the rings of Jupiter. Zarathrustra, a huge Cluster escorted by three Military clusters and with a population of 2 billion, is at Earth's L5 point.

I think we should forbid them. Much better to defend yourself with a thought out defense strategy.

I don’t see any in DS9, so no. Though I’d think shields over small things like a gun battery should be fine.

Should we start a thread where everyone just records their current fleet strength? Would be easier to keep track of.

But it should be possible with DS9 tech, no? That they haven't done it just speaks to their incompetence.

Actually no. The best they could is simply overlap a lot of tiny sheilds. It really isn't possible given the number of projectors you need in return for the surface area they generate.

Hey Arthur Tuxedo, you do know that flares basically only work against single element infrared detectors, which I seriosuly doubt anyone would be using. Infared imageing or FLIR systems are not going to break lock.

Hey Seggybop, a ball of solid anti matter wont do shit to shields. It needs mass to react with to unleash any energy

Flares are just what they are still called, for lack of a better word. They're not actually flares. Haven't figured out what they are or how they work, and I don't think it's really important. They're just countermeasures.

You missed the part about it being launched at extremely high speed. The KE does the shield damage. If the projectile were to defeat the shield, it would likely still have a significant amount of speed so that it could smash into the enemy ship before reacting as it crashes through.

You're right, decoy is a better word. I'll edit the post.

On a similar topic, I was afraid for a moment that we'd be facing off against Niven's Slavers. Then it turned out to be Goau'ld. Those stasis fields and Kzin really threw me off.

Trust me, we don't. Manufactured conflict takes the whole point out of the excercise.

I was wondering, Yosemite Bear, should my floaters be targets for the Go'ald parasite? Floaters are not fertile with regular humans, they are what you might call abhumans...

So, think they should be viable targets for infestation?

Why am I not on the map yet? I'm about 425 ly away from Sol.

EDIT: And I should be at least relatively near the C'tan, since otherwise our defensive military alliance wouldn't make much sense.
