(Whatever is said in Latin sounds profound.)

I like Celine Dion myself. Her ballads alone....they make me go all teary-eyed and shit.

I remember the days before the internet was widely available on mobile phones.

Many discussions at the pub were dumb arguments about whether something was true or not.

We still have those at the dinner table in my house with the parents, we're actually really good about not using our phones at the table unless it's for something related to whatever random thing we're talking about

It must be hard to fight the temptation. Although, with AI slop and the enshittification of the internet, it may go back to the way it used to be.

TIL that when it comes to breakdown cover, "Roadside assistance" isn't worth shit if it doesn't also come with actual recovery if they can't get your car going again.

TIL what's inside an ignition coil, and that there's a right and wrong way to mount an liquid-filled one inside a car's engine bay. FYI it's roughly the size and shape of a drinks can, and the oil-filled ones are supposed to be mounted vertically so the wires remain immersed in the fluid otherwise hotspots form and short out, when that happens it fucks up your electronic ignition module if your car has one.

What car do you have?
Original Mini, I replaced the module and got a new, resin-filled coil that can be mounted in any orientation. The nearly-horizontal mounting on the car would certainly explain why it's eaten so many over the years.
