OK, I finally have the server back up and running. List of changes:
1: Intel SSD died, was replaced with Samsung SSD.
2: OS had to be reinstalled.
3: Board had to be reinstalled from backups.
4: Board initially did not work. Troubleshooting took a while, in part because I was distracted by personal matters. I eventually figured out that the php-tokenizer package is required even though it's not listed as a requirement in the installer.
5: I installed php-fpm in the hopes of managing the kind of massive resource overload that was causing problems on the server before the old SSD failed.
6: I upgraded the phpbb version from 3.3.14 to 3.3.15.
Hopefully it works well now. Please let me know if there are problems.
