I thought Mesonychoteuthis grew up to only 26 feet maximum! Bruce the shark has lost his claim to the meanest mofo in the ocean. This baby could slaughter Minya(Godzilla's Pop-N-Fresh son)! Granted, the weakest daikaiju in history could do so, but still........
Hokey masers and giant robots are no match for a good kaiju at your side, kid

Do you not believe in Thor, the Viking Thunder God? If not, then do you consider your state of disbelief in Thor to be a religion? Are you an AThorist?-Darth Wong on Atheism as a religion

It just proves that sea faring organisms offer severe ownage over their land based brethren by sheer mass.

Imagine this thing being controlled as a weapon!
Yes, it could seriously jam the rotors of large seagoing vessels if there were enough of them and we, I don't know, gave them armor and a motive to attack something that to them is basically a floating rock.
Seriously. It's a SQUID. The only time I could see it as a weapon of war would be if two nations decided to settle their disputes via a giant underwater nude knife fight.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Who said anything about war? I was talking about terrifying normal shipping and communities, pirates etc. would love something like that to act as a distraction.
Obviously it wouldn't work as a war weapon against a navy with any means of firepower and tact.
Seriously though, squid, octopi, and cuttlefish are the coolest animals. And now we have the (fanfare, please) Colossal Squid to add too the family.
Yet, Sperm Whales eat these fuckers. Cool as the boneless critters are, the Sperm Whale owns them, literally!

C4?! Torpedo?! Are you insane? We want to filet the bastard, not mince it!
...though calamari on a mini-sub roll is an interesting idea...

I remember reading somewhere that some reserachers tasted the flesh of a dead giant squid they found. It wasn't very good, and I don't think the colossal squid would be much better.

I seem to remember something about giant squid and ammonia but I couldn't tell you where I saw it.

It was carrion, how good did they expect it to be? Would you eat roadkill?

You must have incorrectly remembered 26 feet instead of 26 meters.
As an interesting bit of trivia, a typical 17-meter giant squid has a sucker diameter of about 10 cm, maybe a little bit more, but there is a confirmed sighting of a badly injured sperm whale that had wounds caused by squid suckers that were about 40 cm in diameter. Now whatever it was that caused those, that is a creature I wouldn't want to meet up close while diving...
Heres a question. If we capture a live one, could we GM it to be... even larger?
