No.
So many people are excited about the new Star Wars trilogy. Geek auteurs are excited. Boys and girls across America are excited. Harrison Ford is not entirely anti-excited. One person, however, is definitely not invested in the latest extension of George Lucas’ star-hopping franchise. At last night’s Britannia Awards at the Beverly Hilton hotel, EW asked honoree Quentin Tarantino if he was interested in the quickly-developing sequel trilogy. “I could so care less,” he responded. So he’s not fan? “No, sorry. Especially if Disney’s going to do it. I’m not interested in the Simon West version of Star Wars.” Two conclusions to draw from this statement. First: Tarantino is probably not planning to sell his characters to Disney anytime soon. Second: He is not a fan of Con Air.

That's fine. Honestly, I'd like to see some new directors on Star Wars spin-off films, instead of the same old faces from SF filmdom and Hollywood in general showing up over and over again.

Indeed. Abrams I don't mind because he's a good choice for Star Wars. And I could tolerate Joss Whedon, I suppose, even though I don't think his usual style is ideal. But I'd like some of the films to have new directors. Maybe they should have Abrams direct the main trilogy (if he's willing to direct that many films) and give the stand alone films to lesser known directors.

what's funny about that is that Terentino has been making Disney movies for years.

i'd prefer to have 1 directer for each new trilogy and then let other directors do the spin off movies. I also hope we see different visions of what the star wars universe is. I would love to see Alfonso Cuarón vision of Star Wars.

Heck, the only people left will be force ghosts, clones, and the droids. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher can make glow-in-the-dark cameos and Harrison Ford can be this knock off of Han Solo, he's an old clone who's cranky and shoots first. :P
it depends how much say Lucas has.

Lucas did say that he would have never had Luke get married.

As for the EU I seriuoslly doubt that Disney cares about the current Post ROTJ EU. That is such a small part of the franchise that they can completely relaunch it.

Harrison Ford has reportedly agreed to reprise his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII.

The news was reported on Fox News Latino by famed movie reporter Umberto ‘El Mayimbe’ Gonzalez.

In a 2010 interview with Peter Travers, Ford said he didn’t think there was a way to “weave” Solo back in to any future films.

He continued adding: “I thought he should have died in the last one… (But) George didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys.”

According to Mayimbe, the deal is done to bring back Ford for the seventh instalment, which will be directed by J.J. Abrams. “It’s just a formality, right now,” he said. “The deal is pretty big…it’s significant.”

Earlier this month, Disney announced it intends to make Han Solo and Boba Fett spin-off films.

According to EW.com, the film focusing on Han Solo will be set between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope.

The Boba Fett spin-off will take place between Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

So, what do you make of this latest Harrison Ford news? Is it good for the franchise, or are you cringing all over? Let us know in the comments.
The original report appears to be from Fox News, so I can't say its reliable. And God knows who their source is.

Uh. Huh. Didn't ESB end with Boba Fett flying off to Jabba's palace, and RotJ start with Boba Fett still at Jabba's palace?

Wookiepedia gives about a year between the movies. Plenty of time for Boba Fett to leave Jabba's palace, do other things, then return.

What surprised me more was the placement of Han's movie. One assumes if Harrison Ford is involved at all, it'll only be a framing device ala the young indiana jones chronicles and not as Han Solo pre-ANH.

No doubt they're going to recast the young Han Solo for the Han Solo movie.

Any ideas as to who will play the young Han Solo?

I was thinking of Nathan Fillion, but he's too old for Han in that time period. So I'm not sure.

Why? Does the fact that nerds like him disqualify him or make them any less capable as an actor?

Though if I were Fillion and I was offered the role of Han Solo, I'd probably turn it down to avoid getting type cast as a roguish smuggler.

Also, your mocking nerds act is annoying. If you post on Star Destroyer.net, most people would probably consider you a nerd. Stop acting like you're better than the rest of us.

He wouldn't mock nerds if they had taste?

His first thought on Fillion was mine as well. We see what happens when you pander to nerds at the boxoffice. It is never good.

I'm not just saying Fillion to pander. I thought of Fillion because he's played the same type of character in Firefly and Serenity. But as I already said, he's rather old for playing Han before A New Hope.

There are what, tens of thousands of actors around? Heaps of them look vaguely Han Solo-ish? Lots that have previously sold the idea of 'roguish and playful but ruthless criminal'? Many of whom would have an interesting and fresh portrayal?

So its pretty strange when the names you hear around roles in a nerd-favourite franchise always seem to be the same very small set of names, who (by coincidence) have a history in the nerd consciousness through other roles in nerd favourites. Its like people just want to constantly shuffle the actors they already like, rather than actually find or choose or speculate about actors who would be good/better/interesting in the role.

Well, so much for me suggesting Karl Urban... :(

Though part of that is for the lol factor that would be involved. But I do think he's a good actor.
