Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread VI
Hey simon, do you have a convenient list of ship loss for all sides of the Battle of Zebes?
Also, quick change up's might happen to my Construction for 3401. The two Bombardment ship upgrades were meant for the battleship squadron leaders sent out on the OMINOUS expedition, and include expected repair time. Now I am not sure that they will be back in time since as I first imagined it we would have started the assault on Meh space in May.
PS: Formless is starting to work on stories, and is asking me to ask around and see what can happen so he can have a dice roll soon so he can do the stupid mechanical part of the national design.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread VI
I almost have such a list. Could compile one without too much trouble, but not right this minute because I'm busy tonight.
For you, it was:
-Two 10-pt Eoghan police gunships destroyed by Boskonian corvettes during attack on Prussian resupply convoy on July 10
-Losses engaging Kavoolite/Gron dorsal group during third phase of Battle of Zebes:
100-pt warcruiser Iria damaged to the point of constructive total loss by Kavoolite photon torpedo attack: repair would be more expensive than replacement.
30-pt destroyer Saighead likewise reduced to constructive total loss by Kavoolite disruptor cruisers.
The destroyer Cloch-Sneachta and warcruiser Brais and were heavily damaged, but should be a job for, oh, somewhere around two and five months' inexpensive dockyard work respectively. Cost of repairs wouldn't come out of the construction budget.
Any other ships damaged in action could be repaired with minimal effort, functionally negligible compared to normal maintenance.
Total: 2(10)+30+100 = 150 points

Thanks, I'll post the losses into my navy. I don't think I'll replace anything this year, but in the next.

Made a few very small edits to the above post, nothing substantial.
I've already told Force Lord about his losses. LoC9 has been nowhere in sight so I haven't formally tallied up, but actual losses are somewhere in the close vicinity of a thousand points for the campaign- which, percentagewise, isn't all that out of line with what he committed. I tried to be roughly fair and not kill more than about 10% of any one fleet's commitment to the operation.

Just FYI, this will be my general practice, inasmuch as being "roughly fair" and not so much 10% of a fleet's commitment.Simon_Jester wrote:Made a few very small edits to the above post, nothing substantial.

Mostly, heavies and up will be damaged, not destroyed. Mediums and below may be destroyed, though not by a lot; the coalition forces at Wolf 359 just had a tremendous advantage, after all. Most of the heavier damage and losses to medium-and-belows will likely be from MEH Oversize Fighter suicide runs.
And I'll get it tallied...today? Tomorrow? Somewhere around there.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread VI
I figure at least a couple of my destroyers run into a bad-tempered heavy turbolaser bolt coming the other way. Just leave Odysseus alone, I need that character later. And Nefertiti, because she's one of my Official Lucky Ship class.
Which reminds me, I need to revise my 3401 build plan, because it doesn't account for a destroyer that was killed 'off-screen' during the Zebes campaign but after the actual battle. I still plan to write that scene- later.

But no, I did figure some minimal losses and damage amongst Spoiler Force (Pinning Force has no damage, because they didn't engage anybody). As to the ships you request be alive, I won't name any of them, just go "x2 [Class] Destroyers Lost" or something like that. And they shouldn't account for every ship of that class lost, or even close to it unless somebody had a retardedly high number of classes with minimal ships per class present (but that's not an issue, so far as I could tell...not amongst the smaller stuff, anyway).
And I did name the proper flagship for Wenli Yang, right? I was kinda guessing on that one.

I barely remember some of the stuff I write without having to look it up again. Seriously, unless I put it in a convenient document or list somewhere, there have been times I had to use the board search to look up older story posts so I could remember what ship I had somebody commanding.Simon_Jester wrote:You did, but... And it wasn't a flat-out guess, I was inferring from that OOC ship list you put in here. So, an educated guess.

Yeah, you'd like some MEH human slaves, wouldn't you?
I heartily chuckle at how you don't even address the Nova Atlanteans in your message to the Inhumanists. Could it be any more obvious that they are the uncool awkward kid trying to fit in where they don't belong and everyone snubs them?

"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

The Nova Atlanteans weren't in the original Inhumanist group that met in December and discussed things. They sort of sent their ships to the Chamarrans all of a sudden to join the MEHstomp, and as far as OMINOUS goes, they are officially a part of the Eoghan force (because Eoghans and Atlanteans have operated together before) and under EUC command.

Da, good point. Either way, league or no, Brags would respond favorably to the Pfhor overtures.

Aren't you worried about the possible security breach? I recommend you send agents to investigate. Not Bears, because everyone would know it was you. But some fellow Inhumanists:Shroom Man 777 wrote:Da, good point. Either way, league or no, Brags would respond favorably to the Pfhor overtures.

The Pfhor were on the list of original invites to what eventually became the League. I assumed they were aware of its existence, at the very least (I mean, what would the danger of telling them have been? It's not like they'll run off to the humans and blab about itI thought the Inhumanist League was a secret anyway? How do the Pfhor know about it?

The diplomatic envoys are still going through, regardless; that's really the important part of that message.

EDIT: Pollux, I did give you props once- the Elysians know of you!
"Where even rumor does not go, I have heard whispers of... ferocious barbalien empires whose three-eyed, glaring overlords are so fierce and uncommunicative that none may say what transpires within their borders..."

After all, the Pfhor have long been listed as semi-sympathetic and semi-aligned with the Bragulans, enough to serve as a strategic counterweight to the Haruhiists at least (who might well be drawn into any major K-Zone war, against the Bragulans, at least in the 3400-vintage strategic calculation prior to this sudden Byz-Brag lovefest we've been seeing)
Some day.

Maybe the Pfhor were quietly approached by the Bragulans, said "we will consider this," and then kept considering it for a long time because their natural racial-supremacism led them to be reluctant to become 'one among many' non-human polities?RogueIce wrote:I thought the Inhumanist League was a secret anyway?
