Who has played the Star Trek vs. Star Wars Mod for Armada?
Anyone?
I've played it and it's pretty cool, even if they do have super Borg in the game.
I particularly enjoyed the Assault on DS9 map and the one with the ST ships in the center and you have to fight past them to attack your opponents.

If it was canon it would be boring and impossible to play. The game takes the stance that gameplay is most important (which is a good thing) and ballances things as such. In general ST ships are faster, smaller, and cheaper. In general SW ships are larger, more expensive, and more powerful.

Yes I've played it. Excellent mod. Don't expect ICS levels (because that would make it horribly boring AND it was out before ICS was) an ISD is slow, unmanueverable, but can open a can of woopass on pretty much anyone.

And thats not even counting the MC-90s (kick ass ships) and the SSDs (big freakin shipsGrand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Yes I've played it. Excellent mod. The only problem is some of the SW ships are SOOO large that it is hard to move them about.
I asked one of the makers of the mods about that. IIRC it was because of the advantages of hyperdrive.

IIRC the firepower of ST compared to ST and SW compared to SW is realistic. Although its all in the eye of the beholder. A Moncal cruiser is ROUGHLY equal to an ISD, but you must remember there are no internally based fighters.Cpt_Frank wrote:Is the firepower of SW ships realistic in relation to each other(ie 1 ISD kicks 1 moncal's ass, two are roughly equal)? And thats not even counting the MC-90s (kick ass ships) and the SSDs (big freakin ships

I've never played Armada (or II, for that matter) but it sounds like a pretty cool game. This SW mods got me interested though.
Outta curiousity, can an ISD-II take down a super fusion tactical Borg cube mabob? Cause that would be toooo coool! Or at least a regulat tac-cube, whatever.

There's an Armada II SW vs ST mod? Damn, I need to get II.

You don't play as Borg in the SW vs ST mod. There is the Rebels, Empire, Federation, and Klingons. The Borg are part of certain scenarios and IIRC the largest Borg Cube is superior to everything but maybe the MC-90 and SSD.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:I've never played Armada (or II, for that matter) but it sounds like a pretty cool game. The Excalibur (largest Federation battleship) is possibly equal to an ISD-1, maybe the ISD-II (note, that is the LARGEST Fed ship being equal to a mid sized Imperial battleship).

They've also have that one map where Borg ships are scattered all over the map and attack anybody's ships who get too close.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Borg Cubes go after derelict ships just like the Ferengi did in the original version (hehehe, at first, the borg had the voice of ferengi).
When you can capture them, they're sweet.
Why did they power up the Borg up so much anyway, GAT?

It's a good match-up, but an undamaged cube generally beats an undamaged ISD II or MC-90, but not without suffering a lot of damage.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:I've never played Armada (or II, for that matter) but it sounds like a pretty cool game. This SW mods got me interested though.

I thought I should throw out that the Borg only have the Cube and the Sphere, and they're a good deal larger and considerably more powerful than the Borg ships in regular Armada.
Both of them get the holding beam as well.

Yeah, but I don't think it's done yet.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Darth Garden Gnome wrote:I've never played Armada (or II, for that matter) but it sounds like a pretty cool game. This SW mods got me interested though.
