Liberation of City17.

Post by TheMuffinKing »

A weird time and space warp occurs throughout the cosmos...the result: Two popular game protagonists are recruited to liberate City 17. Gordon Freeman is nowhere to be found, people begin to panic, but two heros emerge...Duke Nukem and Joanna Dark. Can either hero induvidually, when facing the same challenges as you in HL2, reach and destroy the Citadel? Can they operate as a team (sexual harrasment aside)?

Do they have the Gravity gun? Without it they get boned when reaching the Citadel. (And have their weapons disintegrate and enemies weapons also disintegrate)
Duke would be able to use soldiers as clubs, but the enemy soldiers also disintegrate.
Unless they have the Gravity gun they get stuck, with It Duke takes it (With Joanna filling in for Alyx in technical support)

Joanna never actually does the actual technical stuff herself in either of the games, it gets sent to whoever is backing her up.

I think that you are vastly underestimating Joanna Dark's combat abilities.

Remember, She killed Zhang Li after he got batshit powerful from the Graal device, and she killed the Skedar High Priest, taking out some of the craziest and most fanatical ones on the way. She also broke into dataDyne's offshore Trinity research lab, dataDyne HQ, and the G5 building. All of which have state of the art security. Not to mention Breaking into, and escaping from Area 51, and sneaking weapons onto Air Force One.

Then I assume that Joanna gets the equivalent from PDZ? Which also carry .50 Cal. guns on them.

Yes, lets assume one is thrown through a vortex.

Is this the real Joanna Dark, or the drivel spat out by the rotting shell of what was once a great developer ?

The old school N64 Joanna, I want her to have as much experience as possible.

I was also thinking of having C&C's Kane as leader of the resistance...maybe with some NOD infantry as a body guard...

FANFIC TIME!

I was thinking of having Duke and Joanna work as a team, Nukem handling the brute force aspect of things, while Dark did the "thinking". Parts of the game such as Ravenholm lead me to believe Duke would fare a little better, after all its run and gun (for the most part). Infiltrating the citadel would be more up Joanna's alley, especially since she's not encumbered by a hazard suit. She should be able to access more areas, and if given a data thief?, should be able to hack some Combine systems (assuming any compatability).

Gordon became a symbol. If either Joana or Duke can become a symbol to the people, they could do it. Gordon didn't win alone. He had critical support from the resistance and his success inspired the people to rise up. Without that support, he would surely have failed.

Chalk up yet another alien invasion under Duke's belt. And some "R&R" with Alyx and Joanna after those damn alien assholes get sent packing.

I want the Combine to win. Gordon's character shield helped alot, so did the GMan. How is Duke going to handle a Strider or Gunship? Hell, is Dog going to help him into the Citadel?

By kicking their ass. Duke's char shields outstrip Freeman's by orders of magnitude. Besides, he does have rocket launchers, shrink rays, freeze guns, and all manner of other toys (or can presumably find them).
