I stumbled over this website today (don't think it's been posted before) while reading GameSpy's Age of Mythology forum, I couldn't bring myself to read much of it but I think this is a definite candidate for an invasion. I mean, basic computer literacy is surprising in fundies, but actually playing games and thinking of themselves as "Gamers"? That takes a certain level of intelligence above simply being able to post on "creationweb" or whatever other twisted nonsensical webpages they can find. This offended me deeply for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on...
The topic I read was about how they were having a religious crisis about playing Age of Mythologies because your character worships evil pagan gods in it , another mentioned not playing Black & White because it was blasphemous.
Have you read the moronic double standards on their forum? They will gladly kill entire armies of people in games (as would most gamers, after all thats what they are - games) but when it comes to something like a game that involves choosing a God to worship they refuse to play the game on principal (for those not familiar with Age of Mythologys, you can choose from a selection of the "classical" Greek, Egyptian and Norse deities to "ally" yourself with). Does that not speak volumes on their moral code, i.e. "it's ok to simulate killing people, but simulating worshipping a false God, thats Obscene!."
I'm not suggesting some sort of belligerant invasion, just pointing out its existance. The people there are probably not as fundamentalist as the people on the likes of creation web, so they might be more open to fair debate and discussion without heavy moderator itervention, who knows we could even save a few minds...
That all depends on whether we are going to invade the rapture-ready board. Obviously, if we do that, we aren't going to have the resources to take on this mass of stupidity. Further, what would we hope to accomplish? The board's mods will very likely be as hostile to us as the ones at creationweb, and at least there were some intelligent people there to support us (Exonerate, for instance). This board? I haven't seen any. More than likely we will succeed only in getting ourselves banned. Although, if someone from AOL wants to ruthlessly spam them until they attempt an IP ban...

I didn't realise the ATJ and AIIF were already engaged elsewhere (I don't get much time to read the boards).
And Data_Link, I thinks thats pretty much what will happen in most boards the ATJ and AIIF arrive in, I just thought this might make a nice "soft target" and the (hopefully) higher average intelligence quota of its members compared to something like creationweb may mean this sort of knee-jerk reaction to logic may not be as heavy handed. But seeing as our standing armies are busy elsewhere, its a moot point.

Do you mean on their private BB? I didn't know they had one, well in anycase I don't have access to it, maybe a mod should look out for these sorts of posts from us "unenlightened" members of the board and move them to the private forums when they crop up.
Irrationality and intellegence are two different things. Their irrational belief in god does not mean they are too stupid to be able to play video games or that their irrationality affects their ability to play non-god related games.

Well, I'm a Christian, and I find no problem with Age of Mythology. One of the best of the RTS genre, along with Warcraft III, Starcraft, and Age of Empires II. I think these people are getting a little too worked up. I mean, its just a video game. Its not like they're really worshipping the gods in the game.
There's a difference between normal people who are Christians, and Christians who tend to think as Puritans.
