What a bunch of pathetic fucks. I think they're jealous of normal people, and the sex they are having. Personally, I love sex and the girl I am with does too. Christians always seem to forget that GIRLS CAN LOVE SEX TOO. They are not always scared of it, and some are really good at it!

Prostitution was sort of winked-at by the Medieval/pre-Counter Reformation Church as being a way for men to relieve their sexual energy without corrupting chaste women.

I'm not sure of our friendly Borgia Party-Pope actually tried to raise money for his various political hijinks by putting the church into the prostitution business, however.

Welcome, Gricksigger (poke!) and no, I do not paint all Christians into this corner. Here it is time for me to point out something that many people are confused about when they come to this board--

-- In every population no matter how you slice it, there is a percentage of freaks. Extremists. It dosn't matter if you line people up by "Left Wing and Right Wing", or by Goths or Nerds, or left-handers and right-handers, rich and poor, etc... in this case, here on this board we differentiate between realistic and open-minded, tolerant believers and those who are knee-jerk Fundamentalist crazies who want to bring back the Inquisition.

There are many open-minded believers in religion here, as well as athiests and agnostics. Most are Christians or nominally-affiliated Christians, some are what would be called 'lapsed', and some go no further than open thoughts about belief with no real commitment. I myself am Jewish, although I am sure I am not the only one.

I know a Methodist minister in Boise who belives that sex is one of the best gifts God gave mankind; and I have read excerpts from Rabbi Shmuly Boteach's "Kosher Sex" which encourages a believer to enjoy this wonderful thing as much as possible and be happy (& healthy) about it. So if you're a believer, don't immediately think that we are all automatically lined up against belief in toto, rather, just those that make it a miserable experience for all.

I doubt this article is legit, mainly because i've seen a turn-of-the-century health manual. It had a chapter on how to prevent kids from masturbating, and nowhere in that chapter would you find the word "masturbation." It was always "the degraded vice" or "self-abuse." Anyway, the recommendation on how to treat it was bland food and cold showers, along with lots of Bible reading. In extreme cases they suggested that the foreskin might be too tight and causing irritation, in which case they recommended circumcision (which would have the "added bonus" of making the area painfully sore.) For women they recommended about the same, except that instead of circumcision they recommended removal of the hood of the clitoris. Such charming reading...

Now, here in 2002 in Texas, a woman was just arrested in Texas for felony possession of obscene materials. They pulled her over for DUI, and noticed she had 17 various dildos and bottles of lube in her car. Apparently, anything over 3 is "felony possession of obscene materials and/or devices." So, she faces 5 years in prison *just* for that charge.

Exactly: I think the best that we can hope for in society is to maintain stasis... try and reform things to make society a little more tolerant, and there's always a backlash against it. I'd like to believe we've progressed since the 19th century but I know it's just not true.
