Didn't Lord Wong do some calcs on an X-wing's firepower? Assuming that TIE and X-wing cannons have the same output, which is a fairly reasonable assumption, a flight of TIEs should be able to take down the E-D's shields, especially if they concentrate their fire.

No they're not. They are slower and have far less maneouverability (I know I spelt that wrong) and the pitiful shields they have make zero difference, at least TIEs are quick.

The shields are like stormtrooper armor, meaning that glancing hits won't kill the Z-95, whereas on a TIE, a glancing hit may damage something.

Surviving an extra glancing hit doesn't really help when you've got Y wing level speed and manoeuvrability. The Z-95 missions were always the worst on X-Wing Alliance.

X-wing Alliance? No wonder. you're in a 20, maybe thirty year old fighter up against the latest in the Imperial juggernaut? Yeesh. In X-wing VS. TIE Fighter they had an X-wing's speed, 100 MGLT.

But they have turbolasers.

Very weak turbolasers though I'd imagine and not very many of them.

OK, as far as SW fighters not being able to take on the Ent-D, I think we need a dose of some perspective here. We're being a little too fair to ST, methinks. Consider this:

1. Ent-E destroyed the Son'a ship in Insurrection with a chemical explosion.

2. Impartial estimates put photorps around a few kilotons tops.

3. Ent-D shields were almost brought down by a measly 400 GW blast by the husnock ship.

4. The Millenium Falcon's shields held after surviving a direct hit from a Star Destroyer's LTL, yet buckled under the onslaught of a single strafing pass from a single TIE. Assuming 6 megatons for an LTL, and six direct hits (although it certainly looked like less) from the TIE, this puts each two shot burst from the TIE's lasers at 2 megatons, and have you seen the rate of fire on those things?

5. Factor in the fact that TIEs can jam X-Wing sensors and are small and maneuverable, and the Ent-D would be incapable of tracking or hitting the TIE.

I think we're going to have to face the fact that the Ent-D could be easily destroyed by a single TIE Fighter, using cannon sources and not the castrated version from the X-Wing games.

Or what we get from the X-Wing series where X-wing lasers fired at Ground Troops *not so much killed them as Evoprated them with enough power to keep going at near full strength-Gavin(Bacta War)
To give us a rough guess
Impartial estimates put photorps around a few kilotons tops.
Photon? Thats ST I thought, With Proton Torps being SW and several verisons aviable all with greater speed and some greater payload

And kilo-tons seems kinda low but then it IS a shaped charge and very good one at that allowing it seems nearly 100%(maybe 90%?) of the energy used to be impacted on the target

I very much doubt that torps are that weak when turbloasers are in the hundreds of gigatons range. Kinda makes the torps worthless no?

Proton torpedoes would EASILY cut through the E-D's shields. The question is, could regular cannons mounted on starfighters. I think that a squadron-sized fighter group probably COULD defeat 320 MT shields, but I don't think that anything less than that could. I also do not believe that the E-D's shields recover very quickly, unless additional power is diverted to them, so my guess would be that a reasonably sized group of fighters could eventually bring the shields down. ANY SW capital ships designed for combat would cut through the E-D with ease.

I was talking about photorps, not protorps. I'm really not sure why you quoted me saying photorps and then asked if I was talking about ST and not SW... anyway, 320 MT shielding is based on 64 MT photorps, which is insanely generous. The majority of instances point to absolutely pathetic shielding that would possibly buckle under a single blast from a TIE, assuming 2 megaton yields.

yes at most 4 light Turbolasers to the front, and two more on the sides. the Enterprise may be able to out gun it. not to mention the bulk cruiser handles like a pig
