Xindi weapon question

Post by Metrion Cascade »

The second prototype of the weapon largely broke apart a moon in one shot. And it was small enough to fit in Shran's cargo bay. Why didn't the Xindi simply build multiple copies of the prototype and use them against Earth instead of something as huge as the finished product? Was the moon really tiny or something?

It's not impossible for the moon in the demonstration to be tiny. Keep in mind that Earth is unusual for having a moon so comparatively big.

Otherwise, it must be chalked up to Raving Incompetence.

Well, that goes without saying. But a question - what does the fact that a body is close to spherical say about its mass? Most of the smaller moons I can think of in our solar system aren't spheroids.

The smallest known spherical moon is Mimas with an equatorial radius of 196 km.

All smaller moons are irregular(afaik).

And that's how few of the solar system's moons I can think of off the top of my head. :D
