As much as I would love to see a series like that, I think the possibility is so remote that it's not funny. And I don't wan B&B to come anywhere near such a project.

[EDIT] The premise for Enterprise was actually a good one. They had new characters, a 'go back to grass roots' theme, and a revamped new setting. The problem came from the idiotic writing and crappy portrayal of characters by both script treatment and actor's performance. ENT could have been damn good, but the B&B Midas touch didn't help the series any.

The best we'll get at this point are books featuring the adventures of the Excelsior crew. Michael A. Martin and Andy Mangels, writers of the first Lost Era novel, The Sundered (2298), have a new novel, Excelsior: Forged in Fire due out sometime in 2005.

It is hard to describe how much I wanted ENT to be good when I saw the premise. It was new, fresh, it had potential to do things Startrek had never done before--but it didn't. It is slowly turning around, but it will never live up to the original premise.

Indeed. Here in th UK a season of Smallville (I think it costs about as much to produce as Star Trek) costs half as much as one of Star Trek. Add that to the fact that TOS was released decades ago and you have a serious rip-off.

Yeah, plus everyone know that Superman would kick Star Trek's ass. Why the fuck are those damned boxed sets so expensive. If they were cheaper, I might consider buying them, but at their current prices? Fuck no. I spent 60 bucks on the "Friday the 13th" boxed set and it was worth every penny, but fuck B & B. I'm not giving them a dime.

Because Paramount has a general idea of how far down the toilet Trek's gone, but they refuse to admit it and continue to milk the cash cow as long as they can.

The truth is that if ths stupid fanboys would not buy them then they would not be priced that way. The price is what they know the market will pay. I'm interested in the TOS sales figures because I saw many fans look at the box and put it right back on the shelf. Seriuosly $106 at Best Buy?! With scant extras?? Fuck you Paramount

If you go to either "Human Ships: NX Class"'s appendix, or "Articles: Enterprize Ramblings, even Graham Kennedy hates Enterprize. I wonder if there's anyone who actually watches it?

But if I could design the series, I'd place it not on a Federation vessel, but on a Romulan Warbird. You'd get to see the other side of the coin, that not all aliens are of one personality. You'd get to see a ship not burdened by any wussy 'Prime Directive' to hold them back. You'd get to see ship design which made sense from a military point of view.

And of course, in the last season, the Romulans would make war on Earth, and since the main characters always win...

You could do a televised version of the Star Trek: Shattered Empires game, Sulu mysterious transferred to the ISS Excelsior has to fight his way past the TE into tholian space to get back home...

Off course it wouldn't quite jingle with establised DS9 continuity but I'm sure there's some wiggle room for that...

No, I mean things like small bunks and lockers instead of hotel suites, perhaps the Science/Exploration part of it welded onto the bottom of ship at the last minute as an afterthought, engineering safety principles, etc.
