ST2: TWOK Alternative Scenario

Hopefully this scenario hasn't been done before:

Lets say that after capturing the Reliant, Kahn remembers back to his days when he was taken aboard the Enterprise in Space Seed. More specifically he remembers that every Starship has a prefix code from the information he read about starships while recuperating in sick bay. Kahn immediatly changes this code.

During the first battle Kirk is surprised to see that the prefix code has failed. Is Kirk finished or does he have any other options? If the Enterprise is destroyed I'd venture that Kahn would return to Regula and figure out the location of the Genisis device. What scenario can you imagine for Kahn now that he has gotten his revenge on Kirk, has a fully operational starship, and the Genisis device?
