Let me restate my point, just in case:
"If the FTL speed is maintained after the torpedo explodes, even the light headed away from the target will be carried towards it (and possibly hit it) by the not yet completely collapsed warp field."

Do you happen to know how long it takes a warp field to collapse after the drive has been vaporized?
without something to maintain it or some freak accident involving treknobabble, the warp field should collapse immediately.

Doesn't the saucer section stay at warp for a short time after seperation?

only because iirc, it was still in the vicinity of the warp field itself. after it left the warp field it should have coasted down to sublight.

that would mean that the saucer section would be shredded as it left the warp field, because a part of it is still in the field going FTL relative to a ststionary object while another part of it is outside and going at sub-c speeds.

The saucer section does have its own warp drive, though not near as fast as the rest of the ship. This is evidenced in the first episode (Encounter at Farpoint)...the ship seperates, the saucer returns to the nearest STARBASE, and the other half returns to face danger...(I am thinking about the first episode, aren't I? Or am I mixed up as to which episode?

errm. . . the saucer section only had impulse the last i was aware. given that there's only one warp core, in the battle section. it could have simply been the nearest starbase was a few days/hours away via impulse.

I'm pretty sure I recall that the saucer section has an emergency warp drive that can make a very low warp speed. (something like 2 or 3)

"Encounter at Farpoint" doesn't necessarily imply the saucer section has a fully working warp drive system. It could simply have a warp sustainer drive. Seems likely given what we know of Federation warp requiring warp cores, anti-matter storage, etc. Never heard of anything remotely like that in the saucer section.

warp sustainer drive? huh? they were reluctant to perform the separation at warp in the first place due to how dangerous they perceived it as. that being the case why would they have something to maintain warp if it was as dangerous as they claim to do in the first place?

Gah. I can't recall where I saw it, though I'm certain I saw it somewhere (possibly even on this board) :( Sorry. Until I find a source, forget what I said :(

A M/AM shaped charge? This I gotta see.
Yes, it's on page 371 of the hardback version of The Shiva Option.
"...the new warheads that the physicists' prim disapproval had been powerless to keep people from calling "shaped-charge antimatter. The name might be nonsense, but the extremely dense, open-ended anti-radiation field formed in the microsecond before detonation, had performed as advertised in its combat debut, channeling all those incoceivable blast and radiation effects on a single bearing. It had burned through the shileds and armor of the great immobile fortress like a war god's blowtorch."

The idea of saucer seperation is that in a dangerous situation the saucer can fly to safety while the battle section keeps the enemy busy. So the saucer section might have a warp drive since it cant get away from warp capable enemies at sublight speed.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

saying it might have warp drive is not a source confirming that it does.

Cone shape blast was seen in Voyager Retrospect i.e. mostly directional.
