Fate Of The Dominion Fleet
Is there any info on the fate of the Dominion's AQ fleet after the surrender? Was it allowed to return to the GQ via the wormhole? Or perhaps it was turned over to the Alliance as war reperations?

My Opinion
I'm of the opinion that the remaining Dominion fleet should have been split up amongst the Alliance. That would among other things allow the Feds to research the Dominion's long range transporter. If they could integrate the Dominion ships into their own fleets it would also make up for some of their losses until newly built ships were available.

@ Jon: Err... Isn't most of the Dominion intact anyway?

The US helped West Germany to rebuild it's military after the war IIRC.Praxis wrote:The Dominion DID give up. The US didn't conquer Germany when it won the war, but it disarmed them anyway.

Well, we should also consider the Klingon and Romulan goals. It's pointed out in the last series that the Romulans and the Feddies remain the only two viable AQ powers after the war. The way I see it, the Feddies could do one of the two things:
1) Split up the Dominion fleet between the Allies, and hope that the Federation engineers are better at reverse engineering Dominion, Cardassian, and Breen technologies than the Romulans are, or
2) send everyone packing back to their respective territory and get ready to hash things out with the Romulans.
I could see the logic in not taking the Dominion Fleet as war reparations. Rather than give a possible strategic advantage to the Romulans(after all, what happens if Romulan and Dominion technology are more easily incorporated than Federation and Dominion tech?), they choose to keep the familiar enemy, instead.

The finale of DS9 's final episode shows Martok, Ross, and Sisko gazing out over the Promenade as the Dominion's AQ fleet enters the wormhole (and on a side note, Sisko saying that for the first time in 2 1/2 years, there are no Jem'Hadar ships in thr AQ, something that Ross says is worth drinking towards, thereby getting Martok in even greater spirits after the bloodwine incident on Cardassia).

Oops. I meant the novelization of the the DS9 finale; sorry, this is what happens when I don't think about the wording of a post or have my mind on other things.Gustav32Vasa wrote:Actually that is from the book.JME2 wrote:The finale of DS9 's final episode shows Martok, Ross, and Sisko gazing out over the Promenade as the Dominion's AQ fleet enters the wormhole (and on a side note, Sisko saying that for the first time in 2 1/2 years, there are no Jem'Hadar ships in thr AQ, something that Ross says is worth drinking towards, thereby getting Martok in even greater spirits after the bloodwine incident on Cardassia).

Because West Germany was allied with them.Luzifer's right hand wrote:The US helped West Germany to rebuild it's military after the war IIRC.Praxis wrote:The Dominion DID give up. The US didn't conquer Germany when it won the war, but it disarmed them anyway.
Note that they didn't help EAST germany, which was communist.

Japan, actually, which was disarmed. Of course, the treaty also specified that the U.S. was responsible for their defense, so even that's not an exact analogue.Praxis wrote:Because West Germany was allied with them.Luzifer's right hand wrote:The US helped West Germany to rebuild it's military after the war IIRC.Praxis wrote:The Dominion DID give up.
