Come to think about it... Wont a fusion cube be less efficient than 8 seperate cubes? Think about it.

One cube of any size has 6 sides

So 8 seperate cubes have 8 x 6 sides = 48 sides
One fusion cube has 4 cubes on each side so 4 x 6 = 24 sides

So a fusion cube would have half as many sides as 8 seperate cubes. Thats considerable less firepower.

So imo they sacrifice firepower for more defence

The only advantage I can think of would be that of 3 sides per cube are exposed, the drones can divert all power to those weapons arrays.

Same thing happened to me. I had my nice new TFC and decided I wanted to play with the Feds. So there I was, thinking I'm all uber now, and send the TFC by itself. I'm happily blowing the hell out of ship after ship, when then tricky bastards froze me in a temporal field and blew the crap out of my TFC.

Blah! Come on...temporal technology is "teh uber!" Almost nothing can defeat it, except plotlines which can defeat anything. :P

More proof that anything involving Trek time travel is a major headache waiting to happen. :P

Actually, a temporal velocity (deceleration/acceleration) field/weapon is the ideal thing to use against the Borg if you think about it.

What good is adapting to a weapon every 5 seconds gonna do, when your opponent is moving at 100x times normal time-speed, and has hit with 50 shots before you even register the impacts?
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

The question is, does the canon Federation have access or the ability to utilize or build that kind of technology?

We've sene it happen by accident (the TNG episode where those aliens were nesting in a Romulan Drive-Core), and Geordi whip up 'artificail pockets of time' using 'subspace forcefields' for them to go into the other time pockets and exsit at there normal rate.

From there POV, a warp core breach was going to take 6 or more hours to occur.

Wheter or not they could recreate it is another question.

Diverging for a moment, what I like to do with the Fusion cubes is this:

On the fourth or fifth mission of the Federation campgain, the one where you finally locate and seize the Transwarp Portal, you know of course that a Borg Fusion cube arrives out of transwarp just as you prepare to capture the portal.

Before I go after Transwarp portal, I de-comission most of my ships and in their stead build up a strike force of about 32 to 48 Iwo Jima-class marine ships and send them against the Fusion Cube. I end up losing 2/3 of my armada, but at least I'm able to capture the Fusion Cube -- although you alas do not get access to it in the next mission  ).

The thing is while very powerful TFC's are niot invincible. Sending them again dozens of battleships and starbases is a surefire way to lose them.

The best stategy is to use the holding beam to assimilate starbases from a distance. The holding beam has longer range than starbase weapons.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
