The Druoda and their weapons

Post by Techno_Union »

Ok, I am not the most knowledgable person ever when it comes to Trek, so can all of you please help me?

There is this weapons called a Druoda warhead from the Voyager episode "Warhead." There is an ST vs SW debate over on SB.com and a member named Vivftp brought up this weapon. I don't have access to the episode or anything like that so I can't get the info myself.

In this thread, it talked about said weapons and the yield. I was curious as to what all of you think about the math and calculations. The end yield is 50PT for one missile.

Thank you for any help. Also, I ran a search here and this has actually never come up before.

Go to http://www.ditl.org/, look under Weaponry, and you'll get an analysis of the Warhead.

My mistake; I had thought given the DILT's past estimations for power and such, it would have it. My bad.

Using this calculator Linky (I had to work backwards, which sucked) I got a yield of 11,500 TT, using the final crater diameter, not the transient one. (400 km crater, by the way). To check, plug in a 1 km asteroid, iron, moving at 4800 km/s, 90 degree angle, and sedimentary rock. By the way, crystaline rock only loses some 20 km from the diameter, so it is insignificant.

By the way, do we know anything about these Druoda beyond one of their weapon designs? The missile seems very powerful, having strong defenses, intelligence and a huge warhead, does any one else have an opinion on the firepower? 11,500 TT is freaken starwars level firepower, surely there should be more posts by now?

Like so many other VGR aliens, there was -- to my knowledge anyway -- another apperance or mention of the Druoda on Trek.
