You Stuck on Voyager in the Delta Quadrent
2 seconds after Voyager gets stranded in the DQ, Kathy Janeway is replaced by you, and the crew's memories (and the computer's memories) of ms Janeway have been rewired to think that you are there captian.
So what do you do?
So what do you do?

i use the keeper's array to get the ship home and leave active warheads on it so that it self destructs before the ship leaves. problem solved. no bullshit about stranding the ship in the delta quadrant and worrying about leaving the array to a bunch of primitive kazon.

Go through the whole rigamarole with the machine that transported us there, and instead of destroying it with torpedos at the end, leave a bomb on it set to go off an hour or so later and use it to send the ship home.Zor wrote:2 seconds after Voyager gets stranded in the DQ, Kathy Janeway is replaced by you, and the crew's memories (and the computer's memories) of ms Janeway have been rewired to think that you are there captian.

Fetch the Defiant and a couple of other ships using the array, blow up many kazon ships, invite Kes' people into the federation. Use that to justify building a deep space station there. Expand into nearby teritory using promises of new technology and federation peace keeping.
Also: arrest the Marquis.

I will order the crew to set a course for tha gamma quadrant wormhole and demand that the engineers dig some old H-bomb plans because I would prefer to arm my ship with real weapons.
And Tuvok can start to train the crew with projectile weapons.

First and foremost of my orders would be the development of a rudimentary cloak. Delta quadrent species seem to be generally less technologically advanced than the Federation, it seems plausible that a shitty cobbled-together cloaking device (apparently understood by the Federation, since they well understand the operating concepts) would reduce the range of detection of Voyager by several orders of magnitude.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.

Create a large write-once-read-only computer not connected to the ships network. Any "plot-of-the-week" technology is instantly stored in this system... after a few months there should be enough knowledge in this system to conquer the galaxy !
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

Bah, I would have gone back with the caretaker.
Anyway, if I was stranded there and the caretaker was gone, first of all, curse Janeway, secondly, take *any* chance I can to get home...
Remember the species 8472 incident? I would have made this agreement with the Borg: "Give me transwarp, and I'll get rid of species 8472."
The next day, I'd be home.

I'll tell you what I wouldn't have done, though. I WOULDN'T have made the fucking treasonous Marquis into commissioned officers. I would have rounded them up and thrown them into the brig for the entire ride home. Maybe even torture them a little bit to get some information out of them. I'm still mad about Battle Axe making them officers, and even making their leader the SECOND in command. That wouldn't happen if I were in charge.

Make Janeway sleep with Q for one night...get us home.
Realistic answer...like Howedar said...cruddy cloak. Except possibly the Borg, it appeared that a good percentage of the Delta Quad species had never seen a cloak or used one(many of the scavenger races would've sold their first born and mothers for such tech).
Avoid investigatingevery dumb anamoly.

Ignoring some of the Voyager/ST bashing in this thread...
First the events of Caretaker play out preaty much the same as they did before. With a couple of exceptions.
A. When the two small Kazon ship attack, they are destroeyd. We know from later in Voyager that those two little ships can only take a couple of maximum phaser blasts from Voyagers light arrays, they go down instantly. Then when the massive Carrier arrive, a couple of torpedoes blow IT sky high as well. Though we might let them evacuate their ship after crippiling it, THEN blow it up. Just to make a point to the Kazon.
Don't. Screw. With. The. Federation.
Janeways pussyfooting around with them is what led to them banding together to take Voyager. If however you put the fear of God into them, you might get quite a bit less trouble from them.
B. Nelix is taken aboard and we rescue Kes again, we accept him on board as a guide to the DQ. Of course prior to this I have not beamed down on his 'save Kes' mission but simply beamed Kes up after 'convincing' him to tell us the truth. Rescue Kim and Torres far quicker, getting in and out before the Caretaker starts blasting the place.
After that, we change a few things.
1. We're in the DQ so I throw many of the rules out the window. Its clear the Federation knows how to build cloaking devices, they just legaly can not (though they bend the rules a little). Have the enginering teams get started on one for Voyager. Very few people appear to have cloaking technology in the DQ and none of them appear to be up to the standards of the the AQ. It will create a great deal of flexability.
2. Have enginering start early on producing a good hundred or so torpedo casings for the ship. None of this saving up torpedoes early on (then later on they gave up anyway). If the bloody Kazon try to attack, they die in ten seconds flat. We see that their biggest warships can't take more then a couple Federation torpedos, though they can reist Voyagers light phasers. If Magh Kulla is stupid enough to attack, we send him packing.
3. Seska will meet with a little...accident. Either that or we stun her withjout warning, take her to sickbay restrained, and have the Docter perform a complete physical evaluation to prove she is a Cardasian, in front of Chakotey and the rest of the crew. Say you had information frmo Starfleet intel about one of Chakoteys crew being a Cardasian.
4. Access Federation records of the Barzan wormhole, specificaly where it ended up in the DQ. It will take about 3 years to get there, probably a bit less if you don't keep stoping to investigate every damn thing along the way, but its the safest bet to get home. When you get there, beam up the Ferangi into the brig directly along with all evidence of their technology, the planet they screwed up will then recover on its own. Have Kim and Torres do their technobabble thing and head through the wormhole to the AQ.
If you can't wait that long, grab the caretakers remains and use it to find his 'mate'. Then instaed of showing mercy, KILL it and kill the Ocumpans on the space station. Then use that station to get home, I'm sure it has the same technology.

You would intentially let Neelix stay on your ship?

I would make a cloak, and set course for the Gamma Quadrant since the map indicates that the Bajor wormhole is closer than earth. Any borg technology would be intergrated into the ship if possible. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE DROP OFF THE MAQIE WTF WAS SHE THINKING MAKING THEM CREWMEMBERS? The crew would have to work 12hour days not 6-8.

Despite Neelix's highly annoying tendancies, his knowledge of the "lay of the land" in the DQ would still be indispensable...Superman wrote:You would intentially let Neelix stay on your ship?

You might as well say "find a magic lamp and use one of your three wishes to get home", because that's more likely than a Dominion-born changeling helping Voyager during the Dominion War.jubjub27 wrote:and also.....................FIND A CHANGLING TO DO YOUR DIRTY WORK ALONG THE WAY AND TO USE DOMINION RESOURCES TO GET HOME.
