Trek XI = All 5 Captains?

Post by JME2 »

From TrekWeb:
Patrick Stewart ('Picard') appeared at the Buxton Opera House in the United Kingdom this weekend, and TrekWeb has received the following report from a visitor who attended the event.

It was a very entertaining talk, entitled TO HOLLYWOOD AND BACK, even though Stewart crammed so much into his allotted time that he barely got halfway through the material he'd prepared. The chief point of interest re: STAR TREK were Stewart's comments in answer to an audience question about John Logan's script idea for the now-never-to-happen NEMESIS sequel.

According to Stewart, Logan's idea was to have ALL the STAR TREK captains - Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway and Archer - joining forces to fight "the final battle". Stewart added: "But you'll just have to imagine it in your heads because it's never going to happen."

Never get a fanboy to write a script. Dear god, all FIVE captains?

One is dead (Kirk).

Two is old (Picard - like Nimoy, I think Stewart is tired of the role)

Three is AWOL (Sisko is now a prophet or something...)

Four is an Admiral desk jockey (Janeway - the Dilbert principle at work).

Five is a moron (Archer).

WHY would this "Team-up" be anything other than embarassing? Generations was shit BECAUSE we had Kirk in it (and he died for some stupid reason). "Trials and Tribble-ations" was shit BECAUSE we had Sisko inserted artificially into it. I hope there ain't another Trek film.

Before Nemesis, I would have flamed you for a comment like that. Now, I totally agree with you.

As far as I'm concerned, we still need a DS9 movie.

Before Nemesis, I would have ADVOCATED a fanboy to replace the Dunderheads. Now, I have my current position.

Basically you need someone like Nick Meyer - someone who was completely unfamiliar with the source material, was given the assignment, then STUDIED the source material in order to familiarise himself with it.

Not enough appeal. Hell, look what the TNG movies did to the franchise and TNG was more mainstream than any of the other spinoffs. Besides, I don't trust the writers anymore. :(

I don't think a fan would hurt, just not a fanboy.

A fan would be familiar with the source material from the start but wouldn't be stupid about things.

LOL, I bet that's the reason why he put a final stop to the TNG movies, I know I wouldn't take part in such a pile of shit.

I would like to draw your attention to the phrase:
Logan's script idea for the now-never-to-happen NEMESIS sequel.
Never-to-happen? So stop your whining. Yes, its a crap idea butwho cares? Even paramount seems to know it so no harm done.

Thank goodness for that. The sheer stupidity they'd have to cram into pull off that bit of fan-autofellatio is astounding.

You might think you do but once they get their cum-stained mandibles on DS9 and mangle it for all their tiny minds ability, you'll pray they didn't.

It sounds like they're just trying to do "All Good Things..." with all the captains.

Why would these captains team up across time lines? I could see the smallest chance of all the Enterprise captains teaming up, but thats at least 9 captains.

However, Pike would be an enormous asset:

Borg: WE ARE THE BORG. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Pike: Bleep. Bleep.

Borg: BLEEPING IS IRRELEVANT. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED.

Pike: Bleep. Bleep.

Borg: STOP THAT.

Pike: Bleep. Bleep.

Borg: ARGH! *explode out of sheer annoyance*

Pike: Bleep.

You know, I never thought about it that way. For now, I'm just going to stick to the DS9-Series 2 being published by Pocket Books.
