Star Trek: Shattered Universe
I saw this game, for PS2, for rent at my local rental place. Is it any good in terms of its story (and gameplay for that matter)?

Just to make my post seem less belligerent can I ask if PS2 is the only platform it's available on, or can I play it on Xbox?

I borrowed it from a friend. Problems I noticed with it are as follows (and you may not think of them as problems...)
Cap ships for the most part just warp into the area and sit there hammering at either you or the Excelsior with little to no maneuvering.
Missions are fairly difficult I found (and given their length and a lack of in-mission save points, it means that you're bound to be doing the same thing over and over again).
No depth whatsoever, you just fly around, line up on the target and hold down the fireing key ti'll it's dead. Repeat as greater and greater numbers of enemies warp in once you've taken out enough of the first wave.
Excelsior can't seem to accurately peg fighters at all even though they bore straight in time after time. Poor ship looks like swiss cheese after nearly every encounter I've had so far.
Cut scenes are pretty low in quality, especially considering what I've seen other games do on a PS2 for cut scenes.
Music sounds like it's MIDI and is rather underwealming.
Game seems to feel unpolished overall.
Story so far is a bit light on the ground, dunno if it'll pick up later on.
I recommend you rent it and give'er a whirl, but I'm personally glad I didn't pay for it.

The game has issues, borrowing the standard X-wing philosophies of "You have to carry your entire side", and "Capital ship shields never regenerate"

How many fucking capital ships do they expect you to kill while keeping enemy fighters off of the Excelsior?! You'd think that four fucking Connies simultaneously would be enough, but no, a couple of Orion Battlecruisers have to show up then.

X-wing games were fun and entertaining, and killing capships was fucking hard.
The game is more like RS3 in the star trek universe.
