question about holodecks

Post by Antares »

Well, this is something i wasted some thoughts on:

We know that holodeck generated stuff cannot exist outside holodecks, but indside it's quite real. So what happens if:
1.somebody real "eats" something inside a holodeck? Will the holo-food be digested like normal food?
2.somebody real stays very long in a holodeck (>1 year) and was depending on holo-food. After 1 year large parts of his body would consists of pure holo-matter.

If holo-food can be digested and somebody stays very long on the holodeck, i think the person, if he/she leaves the holodeck will dissolve and only the original "real" matter will be left.

So what do you think?

presumably things eaten of the Holodeck are "replicator rations" and therefore normal food.
Interesting point about Holodecks is they can produce sensors better than the ship they are carried on (in voyagers case)
You can judge the character of a person by what they fear

AFAIK holodecks use replicators to synthesise food and other things that may exit the holodeck. Since replicated food is just like real food it would be digested normaly.
2.somebody real stays very long in a holodeck (>1 year) and was depending on holo-food. After 1 year large parts of his body would consists of pure holo-matter.
See above.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

Holo decks, rpelicator small props such as food, glasses, tommy guns instead of simply simulating them, food you eat on holodecks is real food. or as real as replicated food ever is.

Oil an emergency?! It's about time, Brigadier, that the leaders of this planet of yours realised that to remain dependent upon a mineral slime simply doesn't make sense.
