Anyone else hate "pwned?"

Post by Superman »

Alright, I know that there's this internet group of people who make up their own lingo like "pwned," but sorry, I refuse to take part. I think it's fucking retarded. The line must be drawn here!

Who is with me?

I despise the "leet (1337) speak" but after visiting purepwnage.com I've made an exception for pwned.

Owned, ownage, I can accept. Pwned is just an idiot who can't spell. Who should be owned. By a signifigantly sized gun.

What, you don't know what leet is?

I find leet rather amusing myself, although a lot of people seem to confuse/mix it with AOL speak, which I personally despise.

I find myself wanting to change my last name because of that stupid "language". Seriously. It's a relic that's best left buried.

Although, I will concede that AOL-speak is far worse.

For me, "pwned" is OK to a certain extent, but I draw the line at "AGG". The latter is lingo used by adolesents in the paintball world. Apparently, it is an attempt to mask the fact that most of them are a bunch of brainless idiots who've been nailed in the head too many times at too close of range.

To tell you the truth, I don't even notice it anymore. My brain just automaticaly changes the "p" to an "o".

Generally I don't mind...because later on I "pwn" those people back and make sure they know of it. :)

"pwned" annoys me greatly. Those who use it deserve to be made fun of in a variety of humiliating ways.

Shit, I say it out loud. It's pronounced "poned."

Sometimes I find it slightly enhances humorous aspects of things a bit, particularly ironic l33tsp33k. Considering the second part of my username and my propensity to use m448 6q44i at times it only comes natural :P

It's kind of funny. I think leet is, well, sort of cute. Ceratainly non-threatening. Like ghetto-gangsta-rap-Ebonics stuff. Just a different means of expression... and pretty much just a fad.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

I heard people say 'pwned' out loud today. That was just jarring.

I don't have a problem with l337-speak as long as the person using it is not being serious.

Eh, I think it can be amusing when used in the proper context. If it gets used too often, or for no real reason, then it gets annoying.

Honestly, if there's any form of slang/lingo that I despise, it's the myriads of pet names/euphemisms for sexual organs. I don't know why, but they just rub me the wrong way. What's wrong with calling a body part by it's proper name? :? I know some people like to "talk dirty", and I suppose that might not be as interesting if you're restricted to anatomical terms, but... meh.

For some obscure reason, "pr0n" annoys me much more than "pwned". Possibly because I tend to associate it with immature people who can't bear to even type the word 'porn'.
After all, this is completely straightforward. What could possibly go wrong?
