Who to play God?

Who to play God?
In Reaper, Constantine, The Devils Advocate, Satan is always played by a cool actor, giving of a dangerous yet cool demeanor. Yet in most films, God doesn't seem to have to same gravitas as Lucifer does (Alanis Morrisette in Dogma?). Who would you choose to represent God? I think the Devil got to be cool, yet God should either be more dignified or way cooler.
Morgan Freeman was pretty good as God in Bruce Almighty. The NY Yankees hat was also a nice touch.

Your last two choices are completely inappropriate. EJO wouldn't make a good God at all. And Jack Nicholson plays Jack Nicholson, doesn't matter what the character's name is.Maxentius wrote:Morgan Freeman was awesome.
Edward James Olmos probably wouldn't be a bad choice, either.
For some reason, I could also see Jack Nicholson in the role.
Morgan Freeman, and maybe Sir Ian McKellen. He'd be way more appropriate than Jack fucking Nicholson.

God should inspire fear and awe in those who see him.
Therefore I nominate Christopher Lee, for his godly voice.

George Burns had a crack at God once. I'd also like to vote for Richard Harris (The first Dumbledore ) as God himself.

I also thought "James Earl Jones", although I was thinking more Thulsa Doom than Darth Vader. Although he'd definitely be better for the scary burn-forever-those-who-refuse-to-worship-me God than the shiny-happy-love-everyone sort of God.SiegeTank wrote:"No, Jesus, I am your father!"Schuyler Colfax wrote:Or James Earl Jones for the voice.

The guy that played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies would be cool.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Well, he does do a good job of being Judge, Jury, and Executioner in "Brotherhood" although that's really more appropriate to the BAMF moments in TV thread.Schuyler Colfax wrote:Jason Isaacs???Really?Coyote wrote:The guy that played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies would be cool.
The Excellent Prismatic Spray. For when you absolutely, positively must kill a motherfucker. Accept no substitutions. Contact a magician of the later Aeons for details. Some conditions may apply.

I think George Takei would be cool too, if only for the mission in KA where he's all 'I know you're out there, Klingons. You got 5 minutes, and if we don't see you leaving we're gonna come kick your asses'.
For Old Testament-version, you can't go wrong with Michael Wincott.
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

I'm going to have to nth Morgan Freeman's portrayal of God in Bruce Almighty. George Burns did a good job in Oh God, as far as portraying the "Wise Old Man with a Good Heart" aspect.
I'm going to have to nominate Keanu Reeves as the ultimate God though. *ducks*

Old Testament God, maybe. He was pretty vicious in The Patriot, along with most of his roles he's played a similar character.Imperial Overlord wrote:Well, he does do a good job of being Judge, Jury, and Executioner in "Brotherhood" although that's really more appropriate to the BAMF moments in TV thread.Schuyler Colfax wrote:Jason Isaacs???Really?Coyote wrote:The guy that played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies would be cool.
EDIT: Didn't even think of George Takei, I'm going to have to add him to my list.

C'mon guys. We're talking about the Judeo Christian God here.
Samual L. "Mother Fucker" Jackson is the only one who can pull off that crazy pissed off "I'm killing every one of those mother fuckers" genocidal rages. I offer his performance in Sphere as evidence he can pull of a calm, almost peaceful, sort of nuts.
