I drive a taxi. It pays about the same as the corporate job I ditched for it, but I get to make my own schedule and can respond to certain kinds of aggravation with hitting.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

Sales and Marketing Coordinator for a small art studio. The owner and his 2 assistants make functional sculptures (furniture, birdbaths, fountains, etc.) and I do pretty much everything else. Today I am part salesman, graphic designer, delivery boy, receptionist, secretary, and photographer. Other than actually sculpt, the only thing I don't do around here is drive the forklift.

Currently... looking for work as a Network/System Admin/Engineer whathaveyou.

Got laid off from my last job as a field engineer when the company decided to not do billable work anymore and focus on managed services, so my position was cut.

In addition to my student life already mentioned, I am also helping teach science and maths in primary schools and acting as an ad-hoc a-level physics tutor to my GF and her mates. Rewarding work, even if the pay is negligable.

Carer for my wife, and main parent for my kids.
Used to also work part-time as foundryman at the TAFE (Technical college), until Those Upstairs noticed that we were only getting one or two new students a year, and for perhaps a decade the course had been used as a kind of craft social club for a bunch of old-farts past retirement, so the course was cut at the end of the year. :|
Now I'm On-Call as a General Assistant in case someone needs a fill in, but as I need a day's warning so I can make arrangements, I don't get much. [/dry understatement]
Not a real problem financially, the pension in this country is really quite generous (not the dole though, or study allowance, or anything that isn't defined as "Pension"). That foundry job was a lot of fun, though. :(

I don't have any statistics on hand, but at least the ministry of labor website lists plenty of openings in the Helsinki area. Less in other cities, though I still managed to get a permanent full-time job in Turku even though I didn't have any experience. So, pretty good I guess, especially considering the overall economic climate.

Math teacher / grad student / private math tutor.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

I'm a Mud Logger/Field Geologist on Drilling Rigs in the South Eastern United States and Gulf of Mexico.
Basically means I go out on drilling rigs, set up some equipment, and monitor variables like rate of penetration, levels of gas coming out of the hole, temp of the drilling fluid, and any trends which can indicate issues downhole or changes in formation. I also collect samples of what we drill through, and check it for the presence of hydrocarbons which can then be extracted after the well is drilled out.

Does that involve frequent helicopter rides? Or do you go to the rigs by boat?
