I saw the movie "Ides of March" with Ryan Gosling and George Clooney yesterday.
Honestly, the film is hard to describe without giving away the entire plot. It's an extremely cynical movie about a rising young political operative in a Democratic primary campaign who gets himself into a compromising position that could derail his career, and then uses a ruthless combination of manipulation and blackmail to end up "victorious" in the situation (hardened and cynical himself as a result). I found the second half of it very enjoyable and fast-paced, but you have get through the excruciatingly slow first 45 minutes of the film to get to it.
