I almost always skip breakfast, though when I do have enough time to eat one I'm addicted to a good thing of biscuits & gravy with a few slices of bacon.

Bowl of cereal normally.

Although on my current working pattern, I grab a crumpet before I head out the door at around 6 am, then have my cereal at around 8 after getting experiments and various labwork on the go.

At weekends, I generally have the same - when I go home to the folks, I'm usually a bit more variable. When it's just me, I generally can't justify the expense of buying sausages, eggs or bacon just to have for breakfast, and can't be arsed to take just one sausage out of the freezer the night before.

I will on occassion have a cheese and bean burrito. Yum yum, said the joker.

I'm surprised that so many people love the bacon. I almost never have bacon and I don't miss it. It can be tasty but it's also one of those unhealthy foods that actually feels unhealthy even as you eat it. I find that I get phlegmy and cough after I eat really greasy foods, so I try to avoid those kinds of foods.

I'm not sure I could explain why I like it myself. It has just the right combination of crunchiness and saltiness when cooked properly that makes it appealing without having to add anything to it for flavor. (It's one of the few pork products I actually enjoy). I try and not have it too often anymore though, which probably helps.

We're partial to turkey bacon. Taste and texture are very close to the real thing, maybe even a bit nicer, to my palate. And less unhealthful than pig bacon. Particularly for the pig.

Mmmm, bacon. I eat it about twice a month, along with eggs over easy, grits, toast, and a side of pancakes. Yum! I used to eat that kind of breakfast every day on every weekend, but that was when I was working out and ingesting 5-6,000 calories per day.

Balance is a good thing. When I eat something fatty at breakfast, I eat something healthier (like tuna on wheat bread) for lunch and dinner. Our bodies need fat, as it keeps us from metabolizing muscle to provide energy. Of course, as America's obesity rate shows, balance is essential. Old-school American farmers were, by and large, much thinner than today's combine drivers, despite their pork-and-milk-laden diets - because they did a LOT of manual labor through the day to burn off the fat.

Turkey bacon's okay, but I've found the texture and flavor just aren't that close without making it very crispy. Even then it's still not quite close enough for my liking. (One of the reasons I just don't use turkey bacon much anymore).

School days, pop-tarts, with possibly a bowl of cereal depending on how much time I've given myself. Off days and weekends, I usually sleep in till lunch.

I used to skip breakfast habitually, but I'm getting too old for that shit. I usually just have dry cereal and peanuts, but if I'm hungry and I have a lot of time on my hands I like to make eggs over easy or a fat omelet (whatever I've got for filler, but I'm partial to spinach and mushroom), with crisp turkey bacon, toast, and some kind of potato or potato product.

The reason I like breakfast is because its a rare treat for me. Usually, its a choice between breakfast and an extra half-hour of sleep. The half-hour wins every time.

Also, who else likes to dip their bacon / sausage / toast in their egg yolk?

Is there any other way to eat an egg?

I'm a bit baffled that people so easily skip breakfast. Even when I need to be out the door fast, it's still just ten minutes from making coffee to having cleaned up. I can't imagine starting a day without me sitting down with the paper and a good breakfast - it's the perfect ten-minute warmup to the day.

I have eaten the same breakfast virtually every day for the past 35 years: a cheese sandwich and a cup of tea.

The bread is typically whole wheat. Occasionally this morphs into bagel and cream cheese or cheese and crackers, but it's really just variations on a theme. Occasionally supplemented with a couple slices of bacon, a bit of sausage, or some smoked salmon. Occasionally not practical due to traveling, in which case I'll eat almost anything for breakfast as it's really just another meal.

Weekdays: Oatmeal, one bowl; orange juice, one glass; tea, one mug. If I have to get up before 8 AM and work, I might have a bowl of cereal as well (shredded wheat; it's easy to ration out.)

Saturdays: Pancakes, 4-5, from scratch; bacon, two strips; grapefruit, 1/2, or cantaloupe, 1/6; orange juice, one glass; tea, one mug.

Sundays: Eggs, 2 (over-hard, scrambled, or omelette), bacon, two strips; grapefruit, 1/2, or cantaloupe, 1/6; orange juice, one glass; tea, one mug.

Breakfast is not negotiable. I need those calories to sustain me until lunchtime, and I have difficulty functioning without them.

On weekdays I have breakfast during our 10 o'clock tea break when I have either Weetabix with banana or a sausage sandwich. On the weekends, I guess whatever I happen to eat first would count as breakfast, but otherwise nothing.

Snack bars are designed to serve that purpose (quick 'n dirty calories and carbs) for people on the go. I find that they serve as a perfectly acceptable substitute for a real breakfast in terms of keeping the engine running.

I generally don't get hungry until around noonish, so no breakfast here. However, when I do feel in the mood there is nothing better than a big plate of biscuits in sausage gravy with chewy bacon on the side.

It varies. Usually either cereal, oatmeal, or some kind of pastry, energy bar, or donut. I drink either tea or less often coffee, either way with lots of sugar, or occassionally I'll have orange juice.

Well, it depends upon when you have to be at work. To be at work at 8:30 AM, I have be out the door by about 6:45 AM. The story is generally the same or worse for anyone who commutes to work in the city. Generally speaking, they're all waking up at 6 AM or earlier anyway, so they would prefer the extra sleep than having to get up even earlier to prepare breakfast. I certainly prefer the extra sleep.
I'm at work by 0615 most days and I still manage to eat the breakfast I posted earlier. Now granted I don't have kids to worry about, just my dog, but still. I would gain, maybe 15 minutes of sleep if I didn't eat breakfast.

Most of the time I have a large bagel with an obscene layering of cream cheese along with a glass of milk and some fruit. Depending on what's in season it could be a banana, apple, pear, peach, plums, or anything that's really fast to wash & eat. Sometimes I'll switch to a large bowl of cereal & milk with some fruits and a glass of OJ.

Once in a while, a very long while, I'll get to have bacon & eggs with toast, or french toast, pancakes, fruits, and a glass of milk or OJ.

Is bacon really so... anathema, fattening or gross to people that it seems like once a week / month food? :wtf: I'd liken such aversion to fast-food, especially since bacon strips are not at all filling and ideally part of a larger, balanced breakfast / diet as Chocula points out. (fruits of almost any kind make great breakfast sides)

Actually for me, sausage or sausage patties are the fat-and-I-literally-feel-fatter-for-eating-it food. Sausage. *forces gut down* Bacon seems downright lean. :?

Well, besides being full of fat & salt, the flavourings & preservatives used in bacon are also carcinogens. It's not nearly as bad as smoking but it's not something I'd want to indulge in too frequently either.
