Why Are Youtube Posters Complete Fuckers?

Post by Darth Fanboy »

I didn't think this qualified for SLAM. But why is it that there are a plethora of people who post on on Youtube act like annoying pieces of shit constantly? Approximately 50% of the posts on those comment sections are twerps questioning the sexuality of people who dare not share their opinion. Is there a reason for this or is it just something that started early and snowballed into something bigger?

Because they're male teenagers, and for them the biggest insult is calling someone gay. This is true of any outlet populated by such individuals, so it's not really that big a surprise.
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

A lot of young kids are basically growing up on that site these days, and so they get all the idiotic nonsense bred into them. It’s not really unique though, standards of conduct on the the internet and online games exactly existed in the first place.

It's not just youtube, it happens a LOT in online games, forums, and anywhere else where you have anonymity. I don't know if it's attention whoring or sadism, but some people seem to really get a kick out of causing random people grief.

It just seems especially ridiculous on Youtube, perhaps that's because most of the places I see online conversation happen to be moderated message boards, not the unregulated comment areas of Youtube.

You also have to consider how incredibly easy it is to get attention on Youtube, whether you're trolling somebody's personal video of a baby or posting shit of your own for shock value. Throw in the fact that anybody and everybody can access the website and you've got the equivalent of Myspace.

Hell "you"tube. It's about YOU and that terribly interesting life you want everybody to know about.

It's because no one moderates the comments, so people think it's okay to do anything. I see precisely the same behaviour at other places that also aren't moderated, or are moderated by a ridiculous keyword filter, which only amounts to making people's spelling even worse... Also note the massive amount of creepy guys that'll comment as long as there's a girl in the video, or especially if a real girl(!) made it, regardless of what it's about (or if the girl is actually real).

Has anyone ever made a video pointing out the average youtuber's fucked up behaviour? I bet the comments by the fucktards would be nothing short of hilarious. Fucktards always get defensive of their fucktardness when you point out that they are fucktards.

It's because your average person is a complete fucker, and with anonymity they have no inhibitions with what they can say. So naturally you'll have more complete fuckers on the net.

It's like this... Your average YuoTube poster is an attention whoring douchenozzle. Let's face it, most of the stuff on YouTube sucks. I mean, yeah, I can can watch a couple of videos from bands I like with incredibly shitty audio quality or I can watch so kid punch his buddy in the nuts with a sledgehammer, but after a while that shit gets old. That's when people either just go back to surfing message boards and porn sites or they start posting comments on YouTube. See, message boards and porn, that's what the right minded folk will go do. But the true windowlicking attention whores out there will feel compelled to post a comment, usually something along the lines of "WTF!!1! THS FUKN SUKZ! WTF! YOU GAY HOMOZ SUC!!12! I love the baby jesus."

See, trying to find intelligent commentary on YouTube is a lot like trying to find well written and engaging stories of FanFiction.net. It's like trying to find a diamond burried in the heart of Mount Shit.

I've seen plenty of posting douches on IMDB and even worse ones on AOL. The amount of stupidity and trolling of all sorts that gets posted in the comment section of anything AOL puts up is totally ridiculous. Most of the YouTube ones I've seen pale in comparison.

I also can't stand most of the posting on Television Without Pitty. While there are guys there it's dominated by women/girls so if you want to experience a world dominated by fangirls who get hung up on their favorite "ship" couple and won't let go. That's the place to go.

It's also great if you want to read, snark, and nitpick about your favorite show to the point where you actually don't like the show any more, or at least not as much as you originally did.

Its mostly IMDB and youtube that get to me. Its just that the things they say just make me want to take page out of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and find out where these people live and go and kick there asses. Okay that's a bit much but you get my drift. But, seriously the shit these idiots post is just ridiculous. Its even worse if you're a manga fan try looking at some of the threads they make about anime and manga. The only good thing that comes out of it is that we get videos like this

This is one of the reasons many people are switching to Live Video. There's drama there, too, but nothing like Youtube and the little pussy comment snipers.

Nah, on fanfiction.net there are various tricks which eliminate 95% of the shit, youtube sadly doesn't have this.

IMDb is very mixed bag, with most posters being harmless, even though three fourths of the buggers can't spell and type out total crap (but there are few shiny gems among the steaming turds). Don't talk to me about Television Without Pity where you can serious warnings from the administrators for no reason, no reason what so ever (which is why I left).

It's because they're

1.) (Underaged) idiots.

or

2.) Trolls.

Stuff like this always proves for me how some lefties utopianism of "if only we removed injustice and coercion, everyone would be happy and cooperative" is untrue. Some people are just assholes. Some people, like adolescent males, are almost biologically determined to be assholes.

Some of them just do it because they think it makes them look "hard". They're just trolls with a camcorder. No difference. Check out these two pieces of shit on the same day "The Boring Dispatcher's" death was announced:

A bunch of men in this country cannot get laid and are poorly educated. They think faux-macho posturing and aggressive flouting of good manners and taste and grunting simplified and brutal truisms about the world make them more attractive to women. We all know who these guys are when they grow up.

I'd forgotten about that crap. They could get all anal about people needing to stay on topic in a thread that no one but the people being accused of going off topic have been in for months.

There was a bunch of procedural crap too where you felt like if you did something slightly wrong they'd give you the boot.

Still, my main thing was that I didn't find the snark all that funny, couldn't stand all the fucking shipping, and in some cases the creators of the shows would actually take what was said in the boards to heart and change their show because of it. Even if the stuff was retarded fangirl shit.

I reckon it's because of the lack of real consequences for being an idiot that allows such idiocy to proliferate. The sort of behaviour you can get away with online can if practised in the real world lead to one being kicked, punched or even stabbed. There is also the fact that reading someone calling you an idiot is less emotionally charged than someone actually decrying your retardedness in your face, hence why language on the internet tends to be more exaggerated than in real life.
Illuminatus Primus wrote:Stuff like this always proves for me how some lefties utopianism of "if only we removed injustice and coercion, everyone would be happy and cooperative" is untrue.
No it doesn't. Actions and words in real life have much greater consequences than online. Granted, some people are not mindful of that and get a faceful of the consequences, but incidences of stupidity are rarer offline than online. I don't recall any leftist saying the world would be perfect if injustice and coercion (which tends to be more a libertarian complaint anyway) were removed, merely better.

All YouTube shows is that people do anything if there are no consequences for their actions, something that should be bleeding obvious.

Personally, I tend not to act up on the internet because acting up holds no appeal for me even without consequences. I blame the whole damn mess on a culture of anti-intellectualism that propagates because it is profitable - stupid people are more easily conned into buying stupid shit.

I'd argue against this one. Stupid things might seem to happen less frequently offline, but that's only because the internet makes it so easy to have so much concentrated stupidity in one place as opposed to spreading it out.

Well, I can only go by what I experience in the real world vs the virtual, and admittedly that experience is limited. But it seems that way to me.
