ok, Me and Warsie share the same monopolistic ISP, we are both getting our broad band on Governement spying friendly SBC/AT&T which has bent over backwards for the FBI in the past. (Not to mention China)

Right now I'm posting from a library computer due to my RAM shorting out, and trouble getting service to the middle of nowhere.

Have we reported him to the feds yet? And if not, why the hell haven't we?

He did send me his new address, so I could e-mail him, but frankly, I don't wish to continue any form of association with him.

But if someone else wishes to inform him, he told me his new e-mail is goatse42@gmail.com

One thing that pisses me off was his contention that "nobody has ever been hurt by a prank like this". Bullshit.

As Schuler Colfax said, think of the lurkers. I'm betting there are probably a few more cases like this where people aren't friends with a poster so that we know it happened.

His email is goatse42? Classy.

He deserves to learn the full consequences of his actions. Jail time or being in massive debt seem appropriate.

Yeah, his contact information should also be provided to these people who were fired so they can launch civil suits against him.

From a concerned citizen
I have been following this train wreck caused by Warsie and must say that banning is not enough.

He must be turned in to the Police and FBI for a thorough ass raping. Mike himself should sue Warsie for using his site for illegal acts, pain and suffering, and what ever else Mike can get to stick in a Civil Court.

Everyone who clicked on that link should come forth and get together to launch a class action lawsuit against Warsie.

Since Stravo, I believe is an attorney himself, he should be asked as to what actions if any can be pursued.

Warsie's avatar should be removed (its very fucking annoying anyway) and his sig changed to "I like Rick rolling people to the FBI, costing people their jobs, and I am a closet Pedophile. This is my e-mail address (followed by his e-mail address)"

He should also receive a custom banned title that reflects what he did.

P.S. I have three daughters and child pornography is something I take a very dim view on. This sort of shit ruins lives forever.

I think pointing out to the media about this nasty "rickrolling" style prank might be useful, as warsie apparently didn't think it up himself. Though I can't say I would welcome media attention to the board.

Could a moderator, supermoderator or administrator inform AT&T of this abuse of system resources? Their email address is abuse@att.net; Warsie's former system email is warsie@sbcglobal.net. AT&T will probably want the IP information, else I'd do this myself.

As for leniency with regard to the FBI, et. al, I was considering it. Now that four people have lost their job because of his stunt, I'd hope he gets nailed to the wall.

I have reversed my position. Report him to the authorities.

Further note: the goatse42 email is incorrect, int he banning thread Mike posted his correct one, he altered it when he saw the writing on the wall.

Just once, it'd sure be nice if -- gasp! -- a deserving person benefitted from my generosity. In my adulthood, nearly every kind act I've done has bitten me square in the ass.

But I don't give a shit about looking soft. What truly burns me is obvious: THIS KID'S "PRANK" GOT FOUR PEOPLE FIRED.

I hope those four will pursue civil suits against him, post-haste. My post-bacc studies focused primarily on defamation law, but from the little bit extra I recall, I'm fairly confident said members would have a fair chance at winning damages.

Just as I volunteered to keep tabs on the little buttfuck were he to return, so do I offer whatever money I can spare to Warsie's victims. You have GOT to lawyer up -- NOW.

Did I mention that he changed his E-mail address in his profile before he was banned, perhaps because he realized that we might try to go after him? Luckily, I was able to get his previous E-mail address from the backups.

You did, it was in the HoSed ban thread. Have you made any decision about reporting this to the authorities/civil action/whatever?

Additional fallout.
I sent a copy to Sea Skimmer to bring to the Senate's attention, but he hasn't seemed to have checked his PM.

I just received word from a friend that he had just been released on bond for clicking the links that Warsie marked SFW.

I didn't know he was browsing here and now he has been fucked by Warsie's fucking Rick roll.

He has been expelled from his college where he was browsing from and is facing child porn charges. Its only a matter of time before the FBI takes over.

I gave him the link to the threads in question, so he can formulate a defense, but his chances are slim to beat this off.

To think I recommended my friend to join this site. (Here was the banging-head-on-wall smilie)

Jesus Christ. That fucking douchebag. Words really cannot express what that scum deserves.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

You know, I hate to say it, Mike, but at this point you should probably close down the board and retain the services of a lawyer. And I don't think that's hysterical. These people will, sooner or later, come after you, too. Can you blame them?

He [the person in trouble with the law] may be able to beat this after lawyering up and showing what happened - but it's going to take some time and a lot of money.

EDIT: Clarified.

I'm just worried about the inevitable civil suits. At the very least for the moment I recommend taking measures to prevent this from happening again--which means making it impossible to hotlink on the board.

Everyone should be required to post links in the ++http://www.google.com format with no exceptions, no dressing, and no active hotlinks. I am REALLY concerned about this, though, I don't see how Mike as the board ownership can avoid a nasty lawsuit now. There's five people who have good reason to press one, and their lawyers will probably advise it, especially since Warsie is a kid whose family probably doesn't have as much income they can go after.

The reason for freezing the board would be to provide documentary evidence for lawsuits in as close to the original position as possible, which would hopefully make them easier to deal with.

Shep asked me to post this suggestion for him (from AIM, hence the format)
we should immedaitely go to a closed registration system
e.g no more registrations at all
and only let known trusted people in
like people that multiple members can vouch for
It's a shame
but it's the only way to keep b/tards out

I'd second closed registrations with four members in good standing having to vouch for any new member.

I'd also propose disabling hotlinks in the forums if possible so that ++http://www.google.com is the only format by which it is possible to provide links in the forums whatsoever.

An overreaction. The only thing we should ban is websites masking links- like tinyurl.

Is it? I don't think hotlinking provides enough tangible benefits, though that is a personal opinion I grant.

Can anyone seriously assert, after all, that "overreactions" here are unacceptable in the context of their having even a small chance of someone's real-life situation being completely destroyed?

Plenty of benefits- if it was gone, it would make it impossible for the Keepers of the Lore (granted, now long dead) to do their job. It would fuck up board formatting since dressing links will now be impossible. Those two just off the top of my head.

Also, Shep asked me to post this:
Warsie should be slapped with a felony conviction -- intent to defraud or entrap.

Sure, he'll get out of it in eight years if he keeps his nose clean, but in the meantime, he'll have many problems -- now with background checks everywhere, a conviction for fraud/entrapment is going to be a "DO NOT HIRE" red flag...

In conversation with individuals who would prefer anonymity, it's been pointed out to me that we are only hearing about the fallout secondhand. These people wonder why we haven't heard any firsthand stories of fallout. Moreover, they also suggest that anybody at the FBI tracing the searches would see the flood of links from SDN, put 2 and 2 together, and realize that this was a prank. I felt that this viewpoint should at least be mentioned in this thread.
