[Question Before The Floor] Comical Axi
It was not difficult to notice how the thread in N&P on Hillary Clinton degenerated so quickly into yet another tedious free-market-healthcare-good/socialised-medicine-BAD wankfest courtesy of resident idiot Axis Kast.
Sen. Nitram has already pointed out how often these same arguments have been kicked to death repeatedly in multiple threads. It's also apparent, as usual, that Comical Axi is determined to simply ignore evidence carpet-bombing his "arguments" (as well as ignoring challenge to produce evidence to back his claims) to erect yet another of his Walls of Ignorance.
It also seems, however, that Axi never does anything which could get himself outright banned. He also hasn't gotten the message from the custom titles hung on him or the number of times he's embarassed himself in the N&P. So the question might be what to do about him, if anything.
Nitram has suggested to Axi that he might be taking yet another trip to the HoS. It seems, however, that he's earned a permanent residency in the SDNet sewer since he never seems to learn his lesson. So I would put it as a general question to the floor: should perhaps Axis Kast —a.k.a. Comical Axi a.k.a. Vympel's Bitch— be made a resident idiot in the Hall of Shame?

When ballots have fairly and constitutionally decided, there can be no successful appeal back to bullets.

I think that we must keep in mind the difference between troll and brief idiocy. If we were to go down a track of confineing a person to the HOS, such an action could be veiwed by that person as an effective perm ban and they may leave, do we want that?.Patrick Degan wrote:snip

I think that it {HOS confinement} be a listed punishment option.

Please keep in mind that we are so far unable to enact this sort of punishment.

Well that kills that.Dalton wrote:Please keep in mind that we are so far unable to enact this sort of punishment.
What is the opinion of Kast overall and does he justify punishment other than his title? I think no, unless he deliberatly violates a rule.

Kast has, outside of N&P, actually contributed quite a bit, according to staff members whose forums he has frequented (some of the fiction forums). Therefore I don't see that anything necessarily needs to be done. If he starts erecting walls of ignorance, we just have the usual suspects (Vympel, Nitram, myself, Senator Degan, Keevan Colton and others) drop on him like a ton of bricks as we've always done. Letting the Horsemen loose on any thread that degenerates too far is also an option.
I have as much reason as anyone on this forum to want Kast's guts on a stick, but it isn't necessary at this point.

He's basically okay, and provides entertainment in the N&P forum, even if it is a one-trick-pony act. We have other options unaddressed-- the removal of avatar and SIG priviledges.
Maybe there can be a "warning label SIG" drawn up and imposed on people who repeatededly screw up but not in a ban-able way. Something like "Warning: this person has been proven wrong many times. Read or debate with at your own risk"; "This person has the credibility of a Telephone Psychic". Or, more simply, "For Entertainment Purposes Only" with little biohazard signs or something.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

To add somewhat to the growing consensus while his N&P posts seem often like a continuous replay of the same record I can't say that he has ever brazenly broken rules or moved from the zones of idiocy and ignorance to the point where he is actually a nuisance. He is, in a sense, almost exactly the sort of poster we were talking about sometime ago in the unintelligent members thread. He certainly doesn't seem to be a positive influence but nor is he truly trollish or a negative influence and smacking him down can be theraputic (though trying to return threads to topic is made difficult to say the least).

With all due respect to the Horsemen, I don't want to give any moderator carte blanche to Horsemanize any member's post outside the HoS. If you're going to make any member's contributions worthless by editing them (and who thinks someone could continue to contribute meaningfully when every one of his posts reads "I love to gobble donkey cock" somewhere in it), you might as well just go ahead and ban him.Connor MacLeod wrote:Here's a goofy idea. RI is right. The idea of the Horsemen is so we can mock those that have obviously fucked up bigtime to the extent that their thread is in the HoS, out of the way of serious discussion in other forums. It is only at that point where it is plain to see that the poster/s won't stepdown that we edit their posts for humour given nothing productive will happen.

First, it doesnt neccecsarily mean the idea requires the Horseman be given "carte blanche" if you feel that would be a problem (and admittedly you make some good points.) - it could be permitted but under greater restrictions than it would inside the HoS.RedImperator wrote:With all due respect to the Horsemen, I don't want to give any moderator carte blanche to Horsemanize any member's post outside the HoS. Second, you could also implement a "three strikes" (or two strikes, ,maybe.) in this case - first time a warning, the second time the guy is "marked" figuratively speaking.
As an added bit to the second point, given that this is inspired by people like Axis Kast's type of mentality, it would seem likely that flushing to the HoS would inevitably follow, so the Horsmanizing even outside the forums might be seen as an intermediate step.
An alternate possibility: If Axis (or people like him) persist in that sort of behaviour, maybe they earn themselves automatic "flushes" into the HoS (or at least having their own opinions cut from teh debate and sent their automatically if they persist in engaging in such behaviour.)
For example: If Axis pulled the shit Patrick mentioned in the Hillary Clinton thread in another future thread, and he ignored the warning, he would automatically have his posts (and everyhting related to them) cut from the thread in question and flushed to the HoS) If he persisted in posting in that same thread, he might be subject to further action.

If we put those kinds of restrictions on Axis, then he should get credit for the various positive contributions he makes, of which there are quite a few. After all, that's the system we've used for Shep so far. And if a lunatic like him deserves credit for the minor contributions he makes, then Axis deserves the same.
