nope, since I just did.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Forgot to say I'd voted.
Why isn't Hotfoot already in here?

The way things are looking, we could just admit both now and then just forgo nominations next cycle.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Seconded, if that's possible, procedure-wise.Coyote wrote:The way things are looking, we could just admit both now and then just forgo nominations next cycle.

Pain, or damage, don't end the world, or despair, or fuckin' beatin's. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, ya got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man ... and give some back.

I’m pretty certain the written procedure does not allow that. I’m also pretty certain that everyone would agree too it and we don’t need to waste time starting threads to vote on changing the procedure for such a rare occurrence.

<insert flowery language here>. Thus, I move that, in this one instance, we work around the normal procedure and admit both candidates to the Senate.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

I second Surlethe's motion.

Why is it so goddamned hard to get little assholes like you to admit it when you fuck up? Is it pride? What gives you the right to have any pride?

Aye.

I have already voted. I did not mention this until now as I was recovering from a minor outpatient surgery, however.

Without getting too deep into it I honestly think elevating only one candidate at a time (and I also agree both are highly qualified) can spark further nominations as the one who is not elevated will certainly be nominated in this month for the June 1 vote. Now hopefully by almost forcing us to consider that vote we may gain additional nominations so that we continue to fill the Senate with all the individuals who are qualified. Again I honestly would vote for both but I think forcing us to let one in at a time sparks continuing looks for additional candidates so we should stick with the procedures we have in hand.

I agree with Wilkins and must lodge my protest against the idea of violating the nominating procedures. Noble Ire, if he is worthy of the Senate, can wait a month to join it.

I'm with Wilkins and the Duchess. We've had situations with more than one qualified candidate before, and in every instance the loser waited his turn. And Wilkins is right: any chance to find another qualified candidate for this body should not be passed up.

7 days have passed and the poll should now be officially closed. With 40 votes recorded a quorum is present and with a 19-17 margin Hotfoot has carried this election. If someone with appropriate authority could grant him access I will be duly adding his name to the Whip notification system.
