[Discussion] Chitoryu12 (Title Removal)

I know we don't have a say in this, but I just would like to say that I think that he should certainly have his title removed. He is the perfect example of showing maturity and growth, not just as a poster, but as what seems likes as a person, in his time here on the board. Also as Stark pointed out, there was a time when "Chitty" and Elite Pwnage might as well have been considered the same poster. Chitoryu12 has taken the time since then to improve himself considerably and is deserving of a complete clean slate in this posters opinion.

(I would send PMs for this, but I just feel like I am annoying whomever I chose to send it to in the Senate.)

PMs are usually appreciated by all senators I know. If you annoy them, the worst they'll do is not post them in the senate.

I'm going to have to agree with Hav and, as of this post, all the Senators that have weighed in on the matter.

I can't remember the last time chitoryu12 has posted something that reminded me think, "Oh there goes chitty again..."

Good on him, I say. And let me just had a preemptive congratulations on said removal.

I can't remember the last time chitoryu posted something outside of venting or testing. It's easy to not do something stupid if you never post.

So what? If that's what it takes to reform, that's what it takes to reform. He's earned it - don't cheapen this glorious achievement with your cynicism.

If someone never posts outside of areas with zero conflict then how do we know they've actually reformed?

A moot point given an admin weighed in and decided.

Didn't even notice there was a Senate thread. Oh well.

Do a search for his name. You'll find examples quite easily. On the 29th, he posted in G&C, N&P and OT plus the venting thread and testing.

He's posted elsewhere too, even if it's been low key, low volume. The difference between now and then is quite noticeable.

Besides, if he hasn't got something of major substance to post, then low-key, low-volume (or zero-key, zero-volume) posting outside of Testing and Venting is precisely what we'd expect from a reformed poster. Even in Testing, his behavior has noticeably improved over that of his one-time twin, becoming a far cry from the sort of behavior that earned him the nickname "chitterbug".

It's interesting to compare the cases of Chitoryu12 and Elite Pwnage. On one hand we have a member who was slapped with a title, realized his problems, and shaped up. Now his title has been removed, and he gained at least some respect on the board. On the other hand, we have a member who was given multiple chances, countless posts of advice, and a name change. He continued in his actions, constantly protesting innocence and change, but now is in threat of being temp-banned or even perma-banned.

It's an interesting dichotomy. Good for Chit that he's been able to change himself.

we have lots of people who don't contribute anything "significant" really, so the best nowadays that can be hoped for in the board is that they'll at least keep quiet and not be idiots or cause trouble.

Considering that I was slapped with a Retarded Spambot title for making a large number of poor posts in what I will freely admit was an attempt at the time to inflate my post count, with the occasional (read: every damn day) fight with another member over something I said, the best demonstration of reform would be to, you know, not spam, as the title suggests I do? Or make thought-out posts as opposed to countless stupid ones, as the title again suggests I do?

While aside from the issue being decided I will add this:

If a user were to move to forums and threads where there is no conflict in order to restrain the behavior we wish restrained then in and of itself this would be proof of reform. In other words having the maturity to realize that you might not be contributing to certain discussions and removing yourself from those to go where you can make productive statements is perhaps the highest sign of the increased maturity we seek to promote.
