Just to be clear then, I have not nominated Painrack this month. I was just thinking about it for last month. You might as well get a definitive suitable/unsuitable answer on a single candidate (i.e. Steve), rather than deal with the whole split voting mess again.

Yup! Big Steve from SB. A generally nice guy, unless you're a slaveocrat.

Have a very nice day.

Aaah, somebody noticed at last. I would have suggested him months ago, except, of course, mods are not allowed to.

Have a very nice day.

Umm, Mods have been able to nominate since about a year and a half ago. I rammed that change through back when I was still Whip even before I made Chancellor.

*Edit*Shit it was even further back than that, so much for my memory. We changed the nominations rules in July 2006.

ONLY the Chancellor is forbidden from making nominations or seconds.

Tells you how much attention I've been paying to the Senate.

For next month: why the fuck has Starglider not been nominated?

^Probably because everyone assumed (like me) he already is a senator?

Okay, if Steve gets this month, and Starglider gets the next month, I say we put Havok up for September. Partly because I still hate him, and partly because he's a good guy who'd bring a fresh, interesting perspective to the Senate*. Also, I'm sick of seeing Senate nominees that start with 'S'.

*Until he goes like Stark and becomes just another faceless Senator. Man, you guys really chew 'em up!

Well I like Steve and all....but until someone actually gets off their ass and digs up some supporting threads I'm not signing off on the nomination.

I renominate Havok. Here are his creds. I'd also point to this thread where he made the other poster his bitch.

Way to completely spoil our system, Flagg. I'll second Havok, then. Because I still hate him that much.

Most of Steve's best works would probably be at Spacebattles where he was a mod and general idiot smiter for years. Is it okay to link threads from there? (Also, I've never had an account there so I don't know if there would be any weird rules about linking to stuff there, or where or when the best representative threads would be).

I really like Steve, but if his best works are at another board, that isn't really relevant here.
On the other hand, the majority of the Senate was grandfathered in because of behavior on another board so, there you go.

Good work, Ray. I second Painrack's nomination.

Painrack and Havok are nominated, seconded and confirmed, I'm still waiting on threads for Steve. Seriously I do like the guy but if ya'll like him then get off your arse and dig up some threads people.

I nominate Starglider.
Various board coding projects, including, but not limited to
-- Fixing corrupt board database,
and several other issues. Naturally, also contributions related to AI topics, e.g.:
--Alternatives to neural nets in AI
--Intelligence based value
As well as various others:
-- Reverse-Engineering
-- How does finding an alien spaceship help research&science?
If anyone worthy has additions to this list, please PM me. (Unfortunately, I've not being paying enough attention lately.)

Apologies; I intended to add them so that they are kept together for ease of access, but forgot about the edit limits, so there's no real point PMs. Just posting an addition will have to do.

I just remembered; CmdrWilkens, could you please confirm what MKSheppard's status is? AFAIK he's a mod for the history forum, but he doesn't seem to be in the moderators or minimods groups. Are all moderators automatically senators? What about minimods? Now that we've got subforums, does 'minimod' mean 'a moderator but not in a top level forum' or 'a moderator of a private forum'? Inquiring mind(s) want to know.

Shep is not in the moderators or minimods group even though he has moderator powers over the History Forum. His modship there is something of a special case and ties into his history on the board in general and his particular brand of expertise.
