God damn it Coffee. I'll second Havok, because I hate him that much
I'll start looking for threads.
His Artwork more EVEN MORE
Havok's Marvel Universe Project DC Universe Anytime someone says "Universe Project" you know it's fucking AWESOME.
Expert advice on motorcycles
More "expert" advice on motorcycles
The Poe Thread Even though Havok started that thread, dominated that thread, it's still gonna be called the Poe thread. No offence, homie.
His contributions in the NFL threads in OTmore
Fuck it, this is all I have time to look for. Coffee needs to pick up the slack. Or other people who are united with us in our hatred of Havok.

Marvel vs. DC's movie productions

And as a counter,
here we have Havok claiming that the use of child soldiers is something we should be doing, that we don't use them because we "coddle our children into their 20s and think they are complete fucking idiots" and objects to the idea it is a war crime.
I'd also cite the Poe thread as a reason against him, as that was just blustering posturing and flaming rather then the reasoned discourse we are
supposed to strive for.

Reasoned discourse? This is SDNet right? In the course of the Poe thread yes there where a lot of grand flames, however there where valid points in those flames. Did this place become a miss manners forum while I wasn't looking?

If you want to sidetrack this thread into a discussion on board culture do it elsewhere and get it the fuck out of the nomination thread.
In other news:
Tiriol
Balrog
Havok
have been nominated and seconded. If you wish to present further evidence please do so, if you wish to nominate someone else feel free.

April nominations closed back on the 24th but with no additional nominations not a real worry. Nominations this month will still close on the 24th despite the vote delay caused by my computer taking a shit.

Ok, I nominate
Cariber. I've seen her contribute a lot of useful information to debates (usually but not always medical), she seems pretty rational/sensible, and I think she'd be a good addition to the Senate. If someone would care to second I shall dig up some example posts.

Seconded, though I suggest you PM her to see if she's interested. She has a couple small children and I always got the impression that she is very busy.

I did.

Sure! Though I know I am not the most prolific poster
Thank you for the compliments! I am currently in Panama visiting relatives until Monday may 18th and this may be the last time I get to an internet connected computer, so if I donĀ“t answer back to something before that time, it is just because I am stuck here in no internet land

Cairber is seconded but please do post some example threads as the vote thread will link back to them and they are a semi-formal requirement.

I renominate Havok even though he refuses to draw for me a robot with a Gatling gun for a dick.
Here is a link to some examples of his stellar posting history.

I nominate
Samuel, with his good record of positive arguments and analysis.
For instance, take a look into these thread.

lol, look at your sig and then tell me why we should accept your nomination. Is there still a 'seconded' rule? Please?

I wholeheartedly second this nomination, for the reasons stated in the link as well, his recent contributions to PST, and his general conduct and demeanour.

You're a bad man.
Is there any love left for Balrog?

considering my frequent bitching in the senate about nominating an animal to the senate. I now put in a nomination for
Edi's kitten.
so in honor of Caligula's making a horse a senator, I say: support the Bengal Kittah, for the cuteness, and the terror of our enemies.

Well, for one, I find that Samuel has yet to make any negative contribution to the board, and I find that the senate can benefit from newer members joining their ranks.
Samuel is one of the few newer members that has a rather good record on the forum.

I can think of other people with better records. Samuel is pretty active, so he has racked up a good number of posts already. When he's right, he's quite okay, but when he doesn't get it right, it gets ugly fast. Not Senate material yet.

General notes with 1 week to go for nominations:
1) Cairber is nominated, seconded, and awaiting supporting links
2) Havok is nominated, seconded, and supported
3) Colin's nomination of Edi's Kitten is struck by Chancellor's fiat
4) Samuel has not been seconded
If anyone wishes to discuss the specific merits of nominees I would, as before, request they move that to a seperate thread.

I'll legitimize this particular nomination.
On circumcision.
Contributions on a vaccines and autism thread.
In the 'Last Abortion Clinic in South Dakota Closes' thread.
On lactivism.

Thanks Terwynn. I confess this was on the list of things to do that I kept putting off. I'd like to point out that while Cairber's probably best known for her contributions to medical and parenting threads, she contributes good material to political discussions as well;
Anyone watching the forum on faith?
Hillary-Obama debate
Are the Democrats really pussies?
Applebee's to feel the wrath of nursing mothers
Obama and his "Out of Touch" Remarks
Really it was her reasoned attitude and polite but firm tone that prompted me to nominate her.

Can one re-nominate Balrog? I mostly see him in the fantasy/sci fi context, but I'm impressed by how he likes to try to apply logic and reason to it, especially since Fantasy is one of those things that is given a pass "because its magicccckkkkk"

hell I'll even second it, since my nomination of Edi's kitty has been squashed.

Can I renominate someone else?
If so, I would like to nominate Painrack. He has made countless useful post in the history section especially in regards to Chinese history ( certainly more than what I know of) , healthcare issues and in some debates concerning Singapore( certainly much better than what I do in any debate)
Health Care
Against Kinnson
McCain: Socialized Health Care is Eeeevilll!
Health Insurance is Rigged to Kill.
History
Concerning Chinese civil war
Size of armies in ancient times
Myth of the Malayan Campaign

I was considering nominating Painrack myself actually, but Cairber seemed a slightly better choice. I would avoid nominating more than four or so people per month though, because that will just split the vote sufficiently to allow the 'no more senators ever' permanent block to win.
