Now, after the missile hits Iraq, what happens?

After the Israeli missile hits Iraq, oil prices rise at about the same speed as the mushroom clouds. The rise in oil prices will make the Bush family very happy on account of massively increased profits for their oil businesses. The fallout clouds will then blow over Iran, Syria, Saudi, and possibly Jordan and Turkey. The chances are fairly good that Iran will return the favor with whatever WMD it has at its disposal. The Israeli nuclear response will be somewhat constrained in order to avoid running out of deployable missiles and warheads. When all is said and done expect on the order of 10-50 million dead and a global recession. Throughout most of the latter stages, Shrub will be sitting in the White House sucking on his thumb wondering what the hell he should do next.

Given how little oil Iraq currently pumps, if world economic system was remotely sane there would be no price rise, because the excess capacity exists in the world to make up the difference with plenty to spare.

Course the worlds not sane.

Iran wouldn't hit back, they can't do so effectively and Israel has enough nukes to take out both nations, while still keeping a reserve to deal with Egypt and Syria. Iran has had some crazy leaders and mad governments, but the current folk in power are fairly realistic about such things. It more likely they'd march troops into Southern Iraq and absorb a province or two for a bit of 1980 payback.
