Coverting me

Post by Raptor 597 »

Well, at first here I would not admit that I used to be a fundie influenced seriously by religious programs.(Mostly shit my Dad watched)
Eventually, by the time now, I have completely thrown off creatonism, and most of my faith, I find it unlikely that there is a God nowadays just because it is highly unlikely, however my high intelligence and love for science luckily saved me from ignorance seeping into my mind. So it is possible to covert creationists. :)

Oh, and just out of curiousity are there other theories beside evolution?

I am glad that all of our efforts to educate people have not completely failed, Captain Lennox.

There are no alternative scientific theories for evolution.

Paleontologists sometimes say that if the biologists hadn't invented the theory of evolution, the paleontologists would have had to do it for them. The fossil record simply cannot lead to any other conclusion unless you willfully decide to ignore its patterns.

Ah, thanks everyone. Mr. Wong, may I call you Mike? Anyway, I still find i strange that bones could last so long..*Shrugs* Oh, in Physical Science Honors today, we were warping up talk on the Kinetic-Molecular Theoroy and the subject eventually got on sunlight, and then the dinosaurs, and then evolution and how the teacher said he believed in evoution, but also Christainity(a cool science teacher :D ) Anyways, the "popular" people showd their true image by ignoring the evidence and sayng that can't be. Yet, they only studied a day's worth of 8th Grade level evolution..*Chuckles*

As I've spent time working as a volunteer at the Queen Victoria Museum in Tasmania (one of the only places in the world that was allowed to take casts of the Russian Dinosaurs when they did a world tour), I can quite clearly say that evolution would have been theorised by paleontologists, as even just walking around dusty storerooms it is quite easy to see subtle changes between specimens that are in boxes all over the place.

Evolution is the only theory that makes sense based on the current evidence. Maybe far into the future someone will enhance the evolution theory or create a better one, but at the moment, I can't see how. Do not allow pseudo-science-fundie-propaganda to alter your rational views of the world.

I still find i strange that bones could last so long..
I'm fairly sure they fossilize after while and it's not actually the original bone we dig up.

Am I right, or did I miss something there, everyone?

Rather than rabbiting on with my own vague recollection (which is what I was going to do), I visited Google (repeat after me: "Google is your friend" It lets you check up on idiot creationist arguments, and also gives you access to plenty of your own artillery)

I wouldn't say I was ever a fundie (I never let my faith override my knowledge of science), but I did pick up some pretty damned irrational attitudes for a while.

The most irrational thing I recall doing was refusing to listen to a song (and erasing it from the tape I had it on) because it was called "U-O-Y Sevol Natas" (It's actually a damn good song - my perception of the power of words were just fucked up at the time).

As you may have noticed, I got better :> (Unsurprisingly, this occurred shortly after I moved out of home and no longer kept frequent contact with the members of my old church youth group)
