I don't buy this Apocalypse stuff. They're saying that America's economy, the 9/11 attacks, and the "de-Goding" of society is proof of it. Other nations have endured stuff like that or centuries, and now it matters because it's happening in America? And no, American society isn't as Godless as they think "In God we trust" is still on US currency. A justice is still sworn in by putting his hand on the bible. Forty percent of Americans attend church each Sunday, compared with numbers as low as 3% in some industrialized nations, and there were nations throughout history that discouraged certain religions, or even religion in general. All the "signs" were acts of man, and can only be solved by man.

So, the end of life on earth won't copme until a few billion years, when the sun dies out.

Heh, After telling a friend of mine that story she and I wondered what an athiest costume would look like, we decided on some sort of all-black-with-a-beret beatnik getup.

Well yah, God likes America best, silly! I don't buy all this "let's go back to the good old days" stuff. Yeah, the good old days were great unless you weren't white, weren't christian, or were female.

People have been predicting the Apocolypse since the dawn of time, and it hasn't happened yet. I think it is a basic human instinct to assume that everything around him will eventually disappear into nothingness, or to think that omnipotent beings will eventually destroy the universe because it displeases them. Seriously, virtually all religions eventually have apocolypses or something similar.

I've not actually met any wackos yet, but this is in my sister's "Teen Devotional Bible"

"I know a lot of people who don't go to church and probably don't know about Jesus. SOme people at my school follow other religions, like Buddhism or Islam. I really worry about all of these people. I know that if theu don't have a relationship with God before they die, they won't go to heaven.

"Sometimes I get down because some of my friends won't come to the Lord. Even when I try to talk to them about God, it seems like they don't want to listen. THat's when I pray and ask God for the confidence to keep trying anyway.

"BUt I have seen changes in some of my friends. One person I've shared with has accepted Jesus into her heart..." blah de blah de blah.

The scariest thing is that this girl is only 13, and already she's converting her friends and showing ridiculous intolerance towards other religions. Crikey! If I was her friend, I'd never hear the end of it from her!

Reasons why I left my Fundamentalist Infested Town

I know some of these people. Every one a die hard fundamentalist creationist. I went through 12 years of school with them. But that one at the very bottom, he became a drug dealer. Honest to BOB.

If only I had a 10 Megaton nuke to rid my self of that horrible place.

My, my. It seems like Christian Religion Bashing is the Forumnial Sports here. :P

Mind you, I do not have any problems with the rightful the bashing of Creationists and Extreme Fundamental Christians (in the form of intolerant, hate-mongering, self-obsessed twerps).

My sister's teen devotional bible? Yeah. It actally looks rather swell untill you read the cover.

I feel your pain. :x
I received a book like this one as well when I was seventeen. Given by some friends who though that because it looked nice, it was nice. Needless to day that that book has become recycled paper.
I went in a Christian bookshop once by accident.

Do people actually read that tripe?
Actually, where I come from very few people do. There is of course a big market for songbooks and bibles. 8)

I myself consider the Bible to be the only required Religious Book for myself. I received some pamphlets and explanatory books as well, but I found them dull. :D
The bad ones are recycled paper.

God kills, that is true.
But is it murder? From a certain point of view (I know, I know :!: ) It is not murder.
List me the examples, please.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just heard a good one three days ago.

Official News Source:
"Statistics give that 1132 Belgiums committed suicide last year. This is 0.5% of the Belgium Population...."

Which means that Belgium has a population of around 220.000 instead of 10.000.000 :!:

I just love false maths. Always good for a laugh.

Well, we mostly mean to beat up on "fundamentalist Christians" as opposed to liberal Christians, but everybody's too lazy to make that distinction.
I myself consider the Bible to be the only required Religious Book for myself. I received some pamphlets and explanatory books as well, but I found them dull. :D
I find the books written in order to convert atheists most amusing. They invariably try to "prove" God's existence with a lot of laughable logic fallacies (eg- "if the universe had a beginning, then God must have created it" or "if we don't understand the rate of helium loss from the Earth's atmosphere, then the Bible must be true") and references to the Bible (not realizing, of course, that atheists don't consider the Bible to be evidence).

Do you really want me to abuse you on that subject? I've actually got a whole list of atrocities and Old Testament horrors in another area of the site, at http://www.stardestroyer.net/Creationis ... lence.html

The truly strange thing about the Old Testament is how millions of Christians can read it and not recognize its atrocities for what they are. Even though most Christians do recognize that the Old Testament contains a lot of violence, they seem to be unwilling to recognize that their wonderful God is responsible in any way, and they tend to get upset when someone calls a spade a spade (eg- referring to God as a genocidal mass-murderer even though he fits every literal definition of the term).
For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet Cybertron.
But now, you shall witnesss ... its dismemberment!

Of course, some will invariably reply with the argument that since god gave us our lives, they are not for us to take away, while as the giver of life, he has every right to take life away.

In other words, the god can't be held to the same standard as we lowly humans approach.

To which to me is the mother of all hypocrisies. The "do as I say, not as I do" ideaology.

I believe that's known as the "special pleading" fallacy. The "special pleading" fallacy is the claim that there is some unique circumstance attached to one particular entity which exempts him from rules which apply to everybody else.

Or, as abusive parents like to put it, "I brought you into this world, so I can take you out". The Old Testament God is a classic abusive father figure.

i recently saw an article claiming that many people believe that George Dubbya Bush is the anti christ if thats the case then surely someone up in heaven is laughing his ass off and would that also mean that a humble pretzel was very nearly the avenging hand of god?
