Ventral detailing is proceeding (for one side). Armament is
8x400-teraton HTL (4x2)
48x170-teraton HTL (12x4)
128x40 teraton HTL (16x8)

Sexy.

Its kind off wierd for me though, I haven't seen any Imperial ships (or any Star Wars ships) that have heavy guns on the ventral side, even if it has less than on the top.

Also, for a second there, I thought those things where doors.

That's hawt. The twin hangars look well protected, and I like the two reactors as well.

How much longer is it going to take to finish the ship? Two months?

Just wondering :) .

Anyways good work as always.

P.S., does the program have some sort of mirror tool?

Depends on how much work I have at work. Probably, at this rate, about two months.

And yes, mirroring is very easy.

If one wants to find a comparison of the power of the ship: the firepower of an ISD-II is just defending the hangar...

Picture 54 is my new favorite, the over the shoulder view is awesome !

Isn't the fire power of the hanger more than just an ISD II because of the quad ion cannons that are in the trench...

Anyways we need more, more, and more pictures!

I don´t get why you are modelling the pannels by hand. I´d get some procedural greeble shader, produce a cool procedural material and then pop it in the displacement slot.
I can imagine how boring that is. I just Made a scrubby looking rebell guy with a leather jackets and many, many wrinkles in his clothes in ZBrush and i believe that wrinkles and panels are on the same level of boring.

You're kidding right? Bump-mapping panels are the height of laziness, and would never hold up at the distance that the rest of the detail would hold up at. Obviously you'd use it for some applications, but not something this detailed. It's on par with using the greeble plugin...just...no.

Since no one liked my reactor bulb armor detailing, I re-did it last night. Incidentally this also increased the reactor volume a bit:

Link to bigger versions? Your clicky-pics don't work in the above post.

New reactor armor is VASTLY superior to the old armor. GG!

Your work is superior but you do not work fast enough... :D

After this project you need to make an even bigger craft!!!

Probably you will be sick of huge things by the time you finish the ship...

I would adore it if someone would do a model of HIMS Eclipse. Hell, we can give it the EUFic treatment and reconcile its various depictions and make it as intelligent as possible.

I like the idea of the Eclipse as a flying Sith temple (so long as the Sovereign remains a "conventional" Star Dreadnought), but the engines, dear god, those engines have GOT to be changed.

Teh Suck

IMO, the ass end should be a veritable wall of engine banks. Not... that.

Sadly, I think that would involve removing the main visual cue, i.e. the stupid big beard in the front of the ship. Not much else changes, apart from that really idiotic rearrangmeent of the engines from (I assume the new essential guide). Before it was just three giant engines and secondaries (which is also stupid imho, but whatever). But then you just get a large, featureless dagger wedge. And you might as well model a mandator concept :).

And it's already sorta been done:
http://www.arisingthreat.com/preview_history.asp?key=20

Low-ish polycount, but what is there to really model on that design?
